That's a shame. The humor and stories in the Tintin books are still fun to read, even though they were done in the 30s. Never heard of Asterix but there's no way it has as large of a fan base as Tintin.

Truth be told I'm not as knowledgeable about comics as you might think; I only know about Sam and Max because of the cartoon and I was clueless about the greatness known as Sandman until a friend lent me his copies to read. I've actually been thinking about asking people to suggest comic series for me to read.

i loved asterix. i still have one of the books. Tintin was boring to me in comparison. I cosplayed him once when i was in primary school and so many people asked me what the hell i was made up as. I went to go hide in the library then.

Well.. can't say I like either one because it seems I've deprived myself of both. O_o But not intentionally.

I've always been aware of both titles. And I've noted similarities in character design with Asterix and the old Warner Bros. cartoons.. I wonder if Chuck Jones' design work influenced Asterix or vice versa? Always been curious about that.

Why?

Hard not to like Captain Haddock, he's funny ..!

His best moment, IMO, was in the Castofiore Emeralds. I know it would probably count as animal abuse but nothing beats his hatred for that awful parrot he was given. "Billions of blue blistering barnacles! Shut up when I'm talking!"

EDIT: :p There! Now you'll all have to suffer the awesomeness of Tintin every time I post! MWAHAHAHAHA!

I'll have to say that Captain Haddock's choice of words for cursing is funny as hell. ^^

Haha, i have never seen tintin in English, so seeing that made me laugh :D
His choice of words in Danish is no less creative though, i forgot what he usually said, but i know it made me laugh...
