OMG, I already got the Tintin set that has volumes 6-10 in the mail! It's a good thing I know the set has an English language option or I'd be freaking out because of all the French on it. Maybe I should take pictures and have Pample read it to me :p

I wish I didn't have so much homework and work such crappy shifts or I'd totally be watching it right now.

Pamplemousse

Haha, is that really a bottle of booze in his hand in your signature, Hat? If so, that's a pretty dang epic children's cartoon. <3 I ran into Asterix a few times in French class, but I've only heard of TinTin. I was a Garfield kid. >.> Yeah, I know. Don't judge me with those eyes of judging, guys!
I, Pamplemousse, do not believe in alligators.

I live in Denmark, little Scandinavian country, yet i heard of all those... i feel so enlighted now for knowing all this despite living in this little country...  :il_hahaha:

I don't think alcohol in kids' stuff was a big deal back in the 1930s and in the beginning when Haddock was first introduced he was just big drunk, as well as a pretty pathetic character, so yup, that's liquor in his hand. Seriously, some of the other stuff that was in that comic series was pretty bad and some got censored for the US release if they could do it. Tintin in Congo is one of the most racist things I've ever seen (I'm actually a little ashamed that I own it) and Herge didn't portray Asians very well either. My favorite is an edit they made where they changed a very stereotypical-looking black man to a white one instead but still left Haddock's dialogue as "Stop that negro!".

Ahh, you're right, I suppose it wouldn't have been a big deal in the thirties. Those crazy jive cats.  :il_hahaha:

^Because I'm bored and the chat isn't working for me again. Strange how it loads most of the time but other times I get a blank space. I wonder if something's up with my computer? I'm getting a lot of "trouble loading page" messages.

MincyMatsu

Goddamn, that picture is incredibly hilarious :D
