The least-anticipated revival since Fuller House is finally here! Against all odds, the Excel
Saga Forum is back with its original domain name intact. Read the announcement thread for
more details, or check out the Resources section for help finding copies of both the manga and
anime. And don't forget to join our newfangled Discord if that's the kind of thing you're into!

How long did Holy Brownie run and how many volumes are out so far? I'm going to assume for now it was made before Excel Saga and is shorter.

Sean Gaffney

Holy Brownie began in 2001, mostly running in Young King Ours +, a spinoff offshoot.  It ran for 6 volumes.  It is more explicit than Excel Saga in terms of nudity and violence, at least in the early volume I have, so is unlikely to be picked up by Viz - who, as we know, are looking for more Rikdo titles after Excel Saga's 200th week on the best seller lists.  ^_-

Mad Hatteress

Saikano was pretty darn sexually explicit and that's a Viz manga. I don't see why they'd pass on Holy Brownie.

Uncreativity

I doubt the problem is a lack of willingness to work on the title, but more a lack of marketability.

I believe Uncreativity hit the nail on the head.

Wish she had missed it by a mile though...  :e_wink:

Kabapu's silhouette looks strangely familiar...
In an awesome way though, i love his poses :D

He's alive! Kabapu's secret identity is revealed!

Yikes... So now little girls AND boys need to be careful in that manga...

Oh my... Sure, I'm sure it can't be worse then a lot of things I've seen.

Quickie translations of the text accompanying those pictures:

QuoteAre we drawing nearer to the core? Of the story, I mean.

Iwata is... "cool"...

(That may be Tenmangu, but it's also Iwata in the picture. Sumiyoshi and Watanabe are being terrified at his coolness.)

QuoteSecond returns to Mama Shiouji's hands, and it seems like she's helping Umi.

In regards to First, it seems that she is the core, but we've learned that somehow she's has been fragmented.

What the hell is this "core," anyway?

However, it looks like the one who left those fragments behind was Umi's father.

Apparently the core, which could not be duplicated, could only be splintered by way of a total clutz.

What a terrible capacity for clumsiness indeed...

Sean Gaffney

Has Umi's father even been mentioned before now?  This is as opposed to Shiouji's father, right?

Man, I've been reviewing Excel Saga volume by volume for my blog, and it's still stunning just how utterly plotty it got right around the introduction of Umi.  I mean, it had plot before then, of course, but this was like "OK, must move into OVERDRIVE now!".
