The least-anticipated revival since Fuller House is finally here! Against all odds, the Excel

This is the first anime I've been really, truly excited about in a long time. So what is it? Well, the fansubbers put it this way: "Madoka Magica is about a normal teenage girl who is living a completely normal school life when she and her normal friend suddenly get attacked by the Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei opening."

And that's a pretty good description. The show starts off pretending like it's going to be your typical moeblob magical girl series (the first episode is hard to get through, but I swear it's worth it). And then all of a sudden...

Did I mention that there are quotes from Faust written on the walls? And that the cute animal mascot is Satan at worst, and engineering the destruction and deaths of teenage girls at best? Also the fight scenes look like this:

Also, Kalafina (Yuki Kaijiura's band that did the Kara no Kyoukai soundtrack) does the ending song.

I'll just leave this here: http://www.ggkthx.org/tag/madoka-magica/

Turbam!!!

Just saw the first episode, dear lord that was awesome.

I really loved the transition scene, reminded me of Silent Hill...kind of.  I'll definitely have to look into the rest of this.

'Ey there, Turbam!!! Haven't seen you in awhile! :im_nabeshin:

My friend told me that we're going to watch this together. So, I guess we are. Certainly looks interesting. :iwata:

Turbam!!!

Hey, I fell down a trap of some sort, but I found my way back.

Lord Il

Holy sh- !! This is just.... whoa!

I've watched episode 1 twice, plan to watch episode 2 again, and plan on seeing episode 3 and 4 soon.
As I thought... trippy!

(Glad you climbed out of that trap, Turbam!!!.) :e_wink:

I'm liking the cold, hard reality this series brings about on what it means to have the responsibilities of a Puella Magi. It's not all fluffy clouds and ice cream...
Mami's head being bitten off in episode 3 was quite a shocker.
So far, Kyubey, the contract making devil cat.. thing, seems to be more of a monster than anything else.
His wanting to persuade girls with magical potential to form a contract with him despite the danger it could bring to themselves seems almost.. selfish? I want to call Kyubey an evil, long earred, 4-legged pimp.
The music score for this series impresses me a lot. The opening song is pretty much standard fare but everything else creates a certain mood to immerse me in the story. It's perfect.

"Hi, I'm Kyubey. Would you like to make a contract with me? In exchange, I can grant you any wish."

^I've heard something about this happening. There will also be many delays in other currently airing series because of the earthquake situation.

Also, due to current sensitivity concerns to the Japanese people, anime series dealing with death, destruction stuff may not be aired for some time (such is probably the case with Madoka Magica). Certain episodes of some series could even be skipped.

Watched first episode, all I will say is fucking weird

This still remains as one of the most unexpectedly shocking shows I've seen this year.

Finally!  I've been trying to avoid all information about the series, with limited success.

Can't wait to get this on Blu-Ray.
