Virtual Child Porn Ban-
A piece of legislation known as the Coroners and Justice Act, which extends the law against possession of child pornography to include non?photographic images, took effect in the United Kingdom on April 6. The legislation was originally proposed in the British Parliament in March 2009. The legislation then moved to the House of Lords in Parliament in the same month.

The act makes it illegal to possess non-real, non-photographic images that are pornographic, "grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character," as well as possessing an image that portrays a range of sexual acts "with or in the presence of a child."

Critics of the bill include the Comic Book Alliance which was co-founded by Leah Moore, the daughter of Watchmen graphic novel writer Alan Moore. The critics say that the bill would outlaw such works as Alan Moore's The Lost Girls comic.

Stuff people are saying-

Anyone surfing teh internets for their hentai fix may be in trouble though. I'm assuming 'child' here refers to any person who appears to be under 18 years of age. If you're going to surf for hentai, be damn selective about what you get.

Goodbye, End of Evangelion.
"Nope. This stuff does not apply to stuff that can be legally sold in the UK. So if it's cool with the BBFC, it's cool with them.

Please don't freak!"

I have to go through my DVDs and manga collection because they were bought from the USA and do not have a BBFC stamp of approval. how pathetic.

Quote
"I'm not going to let this stop me from downloading hentai or ecchi doujinshi, I'll just have to be more careful, that's all!"
is this wise? i dont think so

I can see it now: Going into a dark ally in the dead of night, knocking three times on a nondescript hidden door, waiting until the door deems you're not a threat and cracks open.

"What'll it be?"

"Do you have any, um, End of Evangelion on you?"
lol

Digital Economy Bill-

I've asked the question on the anime news network, but haven't got a reply so far. I asked what exactly the 'Digital Economy Bill' is about. What exactly do we expect to happen if we are caught downloading? what should we do about it? I know I don't want to stop downloading anime, licensed in this country, the USA, or even Japan.

This law must be aimed at those that download wayyyy too much stuff. But what about those like me that download 1 or 2 anime episodes per day? I don't even download games any more. I consider this a worse crime. But is it though? Or is it an equal crime?

How could this possibly affect unlicensed anime which has never been released outside of Japan? I'm a bit sceptical about this law. I need proper evidence and a proper discussion about it with others that would know more about it. if a UK anime forum is talking about it, please share the links.

Blame mandelson for the 2nd legisation bill bullshit, if you have read the national papers or watched the news for the last couple of months you will know what I mean.  I agree with the first legistation though.

I need to admit I don't know the full facts on either as of yet. ^^;; But one thing's for certain - both have become extemely hot topics at several message boards and blogs I've seen. Seems to have brought about a huge amount of controversy over what is and what is not acceptable.

thank fuck theres a general election coming up. don't get me wrong I still believe governments are useless but they're still better than this labour fucking government led by this stupid fat arse of a PM.

as for the bill I don't have much to worry about (if they burst in my house and look through my stuff without arresting me or my permission I can sue them for invasion of privacy and something else which is on the tip of my tongue but can't remember) but I do have to watch out what sites I do go on (one click and they have an excuse to arrest me XO) all in all that latest bill is aload of horse shit introduced because Mandelson is trying to hide the fact he's not popular with ayone

The second item, which was to do with mandelson supposedly going to these little parties, which supposedly have nothing to do with politics, even though most of the papers pick up the truth which was mandelson trying to be the complete arse bandit he is (I ain't homophobic).
