Virtual Child Porn Ban-A piece of legislation known as the Coroners and Justice Act, which extends the law against possession of child pornography to include non?photographic images, took effect in the United Kingdom on April 6. The legislation was originally proposed in the British Parliament in March 2009. The legislation then moved to the House of Lords in Parliament in the same month.
The act makes it illegal to possess non-real, non-photographic images that are pornographic, "grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character," as well as possessing an image that portrays a range of sexual acts "with or in the presence of a child."
Critics of the bill include the Comic Book Alliance which was co-founded by Leah Moore, the daughter of Watchmen graphic novel writer Alan Moore. The critics say that the bill would outlaw such works as Alan Moore's The Lost Girls comic.

Stuff people are saying-
Anyone surfing teh internets for their hentai fix may be in trouble though. I'm assuming 'child' here refers to any person who appears to be under 18 years of age. If you're going to surf for hentai, be damn selective about what you get.
• An act of masturbation by, of or involving a child
Goodbye, End of Evangelion.
"Nope. This stuff does not apply to stuff that can be legally sold in the UK. So if it's cool with the BBFC, it's cool with them.
Please don't freak!"
I have to go through my DVDs and manga collection because they were bought from the USA and do not have a BBFC stamp of approval. how pathetic.
"I'm not going to let this stop me from downloading hentai or ecchi doujinshi, I'll just have to be more careful, that's all!"
is this wise? i dont think so
I can see it now: Going into a dark ally in the dead of night, knocking three times on a nondescript hidden door, waiting until the door deems you're not a threat and cracks open.
"What'll it be?"
"Do you have any, um, End of Evangelion on you?"
lol
Digital Economy Bill-I've asked the question on the anime news network, but haven't got a reply so far. I asked what exactly the 'Digital Economy Bill' is about. What exactly do we expect to happen if we are caught downloading? what should we do about it? I know I don't want to stop downloading anime, licensed in this country, the USA, or even Japan.
This law must be aimed at those that download wayyyy too much stuff. But what about those like me that download 1 or 2 anime episodes per day? I don't even download games any more. I consider this a worse crime. But is it though? Or is it an equal crime?
How could this possibly affect unlicensed anime which has never been released outside of Japan? I'm a bit sceptical about this law. I need proper evidence and a proper discussion about it with others that would know more about it. if a UK anime forum is talking about it, please share the links.
