man no one has replied in this topic for a while so here we go

I have just been reading Victor Hugo's Les Miserables (this is a massive read that could take me between a week or 2) it's a most enjoyable read which is full of facts and Hugo's personal opinions aswell as the main story of Jean Valjean and events in the book that happen will actually make you think more about things then most other books do. if you have seen the west end/broadway musical of the same name you know the basics of the story and also look out for the anime Les Miserables: Shoujo Cossette it is a must to look at (oh by the way if Carl Horn is reading this could he ask the nice people at Viz and Manga if they could bring the anime over to Britain and America please as it is a must see)

the story is of Jean Valjean as he leaves prison after 19 years for stealing some bread to feed his sister and her 7 children who are destitute. After being refused entry in some inns because of his yellow ticket of leave which he must show he is taken in by a bishop. During the night Valjean steals the bishops silverware except 2 candlestick holders. he is caught and bought before the bishop but the bishop then says that he gave him the silver and that in his rush he had forgotten the candlestick holders and also that he made the promise to better himself and help his fellow men I won't continue more as it is a massive book and includes more deatils then you think (or see in the shows) and I suggest you either borrow it from a library or buy it from a good bookstore

Eheh I think that Les Miserables will be my next reading, I'm discovering the classics, just finished in the last month Hemingway's "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "The Count of Montecristo" by Dumas.

The latest book ive finished is who's afraid of virginia wolf. A few things went over my head and overall i found some bits disturbing, it was pretty good.
Also my brother got 50 animorph books and some of the megamorphs at a used bookstore for $1 each (50c American) and they're in great condition.  loved these books when i was younger so being able to read almost the entire series is pretty special. Still only on the first book, started last night.

I just started reading a borrowed copy of "When will Jesus bring the pork chops?", by George Carlin.

I own "Brain Droppings" as well as "Napalm & Silly Putty", both are great.

I'm reading H.P. Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness" - It's a cool read, really deeply told, and very technically written (using many terms and such)
It's more like reading a logbook of their journey...

It's translated in Danish though, i'd like to read the original english version...

After taking several years to finish Tales of the South Pacific, i finally did it. Melancholic ending, but is that not what war novels are about?
And reading Moby Dick.

Currently reading "Naked Lunch". The non-linear and stream of consciousness style of the book is sort of mind numbing and reads more like frantic poetry rather than a novel, but overall the metaphors and characters along with the atmosphere that the books creates are very nice. I'm really surprised that a person could come up with such ugly yet strong imagery around 1959. I'm sort of tempted to read some more of Burroughs' work...even if it does hurt my brain
