Wow so far on novel 7, truly amazing.

My favorite so far is novel 4 "The Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi", truly a literary masterpiece.

General background of it is Kyon is thrown into a world where everyone has lost there memory of what happened in the 6 months the SOS Brigade was formed except him. Haruhi has vanished along with Koizumi who both have lost there powers, Mikuru has lost all memory of Kyon and isnt a time traveler and Nagato is a simple, shy, alone bookworm of the literary club who is nothing more then a human.

In the ultimate climax Kyon must face of with the one being powerful enough to rob everyone of their identities and powers and is given the choice: To forever stay in this world where he is a normal high school guy with no wild or crazy adventures, or to save the world he has lost and return to his former life.

That is a difficult question, but here is a summery of the story.

This story is told by the Main male character of the series, Kyon, who acts as the Narrator for both the anime and the light novel.

Kyon enters his first year of high school, and at this point of his life he has dropped all those childhood fantasy's that we all had at one time or another. He no longer believes on things like Aliens, Time Travelers, Espers, Demons, etc etc. He is ready to live a normal high school life and have normal high school experiences.

That is until the day he met Suzumiya Haruhi...

This girl, who sat behind Kyon gave this introduction:

"If there are any Aliens, Time Travelers, Espers, or Sliders here please follow me! That is all."

This is where Kyon's life is thrown off the deep end of reality. Because he talks to Haruhi and gives her the idea to form a club to find the "mysteries" of the world. He is forced to join along with three other members: Yuki, Koizumi, and Mikuru.

These three people Kyon learns just happen to be a Alien, Esper, and Time Traveler (respectively)

But Kyon is further forced to learn that this girl, Suzumiya Haruhi is also not an ordinary girl. This girl who so wishes to meet and experiences mysteries things has the power to make whatever she wishes come true. She is in a sense God, but she doesnt realize it and the secret goal of the SOS Brigade (the club Haruhi makes) is to keep her from becoming bored and changing the world as well as keep her from knowing of her powers because of the danger that could pose.

The novel itself consists of 9 volumes, 5 of them are story lines that pretain to the main plot of the series while 4 volumes are a collection of short stories that happen inbetween or during events in the main plot that are significant.

Kyon goes through many different unbelievable situations that include:

Being sucked into a new world created by Haruhi (Volume 1)
Making a movie of Haruhi's that alters the world (Volume 2)
Being thrown into a world where Kyon has lost Haruhi and everyone has lost their memory except for his own (volume 4)
Completing missions with Mikuru to save the future (volume 7)
The true enemy starts to show its face and things begin to set in motion (volume 9)

Some of the short stories include:
Kyon traveling back in time 3 years
Kyon spending almost 600 years reliving his summer vacation
Being trapped by aliens in a mansion in a blizzard
Completing various tasks to save his own life as well as the lives of his fellow brigade members
and much much more....

Its a VERY good series, you should def check it out!

just look in a dictionary. i'll look for you.

priv·y       priv·i·er, priv·i·est, noun, plural priv·ies.
–adjective 1. participating in the knowledge of something private or secret (usually fol. by to): Many persons were privy to the plot.
2. private; assigned to private uses.
3. belonging or pertaining to some particular person, esp. with reference to a sovereign.
4. secret, concealed, hidden, or secluded.
5. acting or done in secret.

and there still is chance the books come out, i mean, is this not a cult anime? the television show came out only in August, so after a while, it could happen.

im up to the 2nd volume.
so, is this a sci-fi? it works in that this girl has an ability to create data uninitentionally, and so is able to manipulate the universe and create things, therefore becoming a sort of god or something?
sounds like something douglas adams would come up with, but he'd make it so hilarious. hmm, if only he did make this...
what do you think makes this show/book so good. a plot thingy, the art, or something else?

Well its kinda everything. Haruhi is someone that almost everyone can relate to. She is the kind of person that still wants to believe on the things we have all given up on. In a way she kind of gives a little hope to people.

The anime was very well done. With good voice actors, a plot that followed the original work fairly spot on, and great art.

The original work is also very good. I just love reading it over again. This is a comedy/sci-fi btw.
