Wonderful, wonderful.  Foggle, you have intrigued me, I must seek this out.  >:D

Oh, and lovely poster, that's awesome.  "You can't spell slaughter without laughter," I love it  :im_nabeshin:

You won't be disappointed.  Except, maybe, with the first one or two episode(s).

That however applies to a lot of series, not just anime.  Part of the process, really.  After all, would you want your first couple of episodes to be the best?  Everything thereafter would seem like a let down, wouldn't it?

I never said that the first two episodes were bad.  They're just a lot different than you'd expect them to be. >_>

Some people think they messed it up in the dub, but I really like it!

The pinata party is my favorite part!

Holy crap this is freakin hilarious! I got a big laugh from that.

That girl is freaking commiting suicide in ur sig! I mean what the heck is the plot??
actually this anime has an amazing plot, and it goes on into 3 seasons (the third season isn't out yet) and even a live-action movie (which also isnt out yet) among manga, and a game i have failed to find :(

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is the first season

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai is the amazing 2nd season.

And i LOVE how you watch the first 2 episodes of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and then have a complete and utter plot twist by about the 3rd episode.
Actually upon my return recently i just noticed that Foggle had that gif in his sig, and i've been speaking with him ever since i noticed it via PM's about the amazing anime, which has become one of my favorites since i started watching it a long time ago <3

season 2 just recently ended and i cant wait for season 3. Im hoping they'll translate the live action and bring it to america, i'd like that <3

oh and btw, imagine everyone in lucky star going insane and killing eachother over and over.  (they explain why it keeps happening dont worry)  Thats basically what Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai both are.

Higurashi is a great series.
I'm slow though, and still have 2 episode of Kai to watch lol.

Biggest mind fu*k since Evangelion, cutest art since Lucky Star, and some intense violence not unlike that found in the Saw movies.

Also, I love how they don't just come out and say everything... for example: How in the 3rd story arc, episode 9, it opens with a body in a bag. They lead us to believe, with blond hair, and the fashion of murder, that it was Satioshi... however, eagle eyed viewers might note that the body had a star shaped tattoo on it's hip, which we later see on Rina. So while they want us to think it was Satoshi in the bag, they were actually showing us the reason for Teppei returning, which we later see in Kai. Though honestly, I still have no clue why they would kill her in that fashion...

Ok, I finally tracked down fansubs (in english - there seemed to be many other language translations first, German, Spanish, French, it was hard to find English.)

I'm up through Ep. 5 and lawds, I am confuzzled - this is very odd, the chronology of the whole thing, but I want to keep watching.  It's definitely different though.

Since the English licensing got cancelled after the first 3 discs, most people just call it Higurashi.

Look it up on Wikipedia or watch it for yourself, the plot is complicated.

just watch it, it's an amazing series :P

Hey Foggle, you ever read the original visual novels? There's an on going project with a English patch for the first one, Onikakushi-hen, that works with the demo. The "demo" is actually the whole first novel, just for free.
Demo is here: http://07th-expansion.net/Soft/Taiken.htm (use one of the bottom mirrors)

and the patch is here:
