I am enjoying Hakutsuru saké, which is very tasty, and extremely smooth (i.e. no harsh alcohol taste). A few other sakés I have enjoyed are Kaguyahime, Horin, and two different types of Bunraku (one with actual gold leaf, like Goldschläger).Just wanted to say thank you for this info. Must admit I don't don't know a lot about which type of saké is better than the other. I bought some here before @$10 a bottle (don't know the name unfortunately) and wasn't impressed with the taste. I always figured there'd have to be a better quality available.
I try to only buy imported (from Japan, obviously) saké. I have tried some domestic sakés, but they weren't as smooth, or just tasted off, somehow. I feel that saké is much tastier then grape wines, which I do enjoy, but saké has an earthy nuttiness that grape wines can't achieve.
E^D
P.S. Asahi, in the (very) large can, is imported from Japan, and has quite a different taste then the Asahi (bottled) 6-pack, which is brewed in Canada. It must be something about the water... The large can has almost a whiskey-like flavor, while the Canadian version just tastes like any old beer.

heh.. But ten bucks a bottle was kinda cheap - I couldn't expect much anyways. ^^;
hmm sounds interesting. I would like to try them out. I have been drinking a type from asda which is £5.58 and isn't as smooth as I orignally thought. I recntly bought some at the sushi bar which is nicer. oh by the way does any of these taste better hot or cold as some Sake is served warm while others are coldI haven't tried any of them warm; I have only ever drank them cold. I'm relatively new to drinking saké, so I have no idea which ones would be better warm or cold. They were all very good cold. The two Bunraku were nice, but the other three are truly delicious, especially Kaguyahime-that one was exceptionally tasty.
Sake is a versatile beverage enjoyed at a range of serving temperatures. With the exception of namazake, namachozo-shu and certain premium sakes which must be served chilled or over ice, many sake varieties may be served chilled, room temperature or warmed.Taken from the Gekkeikan Japan (http://www.gekkeikan.co.jp/english/index.html)website.
Kan
Warmed sake, or kan, is a common choice in the cooler months. When heated, the fullness of body becomes more pronounced. However care must be taken to avoid overheating which can effect the perception of taste. In general, it is recommended to serve kan sake at
40-50°C (104-122°F)
We've got the best pizza ever here in Austin. Srsly, if you're ever in Texas, stop by Milto's Pizza Pub/Greek Restaurant. Best shit ever.I believe you, but I'm going to have to take umbrage with that statement.

Also, make sure to mention Ninja Gaiden in your sexist vidya games paper. Love the game, could do without the degrading cutscenes. lol
You should use the Succubus boss fight from MadWorld as an example for the lulz.
Don't forget to write about 11 year old boys on Xbox Live who say stuff like "omgf r u a reel grl?!?"
Never been on Xbox Live but there was an incident when I was in Target and a worker there asked if I needed any help. I said "No" and went from looking at the Cube games to the PS2 games to then hear him say "PS2 games won't work in the Game Cube." 'Cause obviously I can't own both systems, right?. He then tried to get me to buy Metroid because "It's a girl you play as!". I really couldn't care less and I have no desire to play Metroid even if Samus is a chick. I actually told the the guy to leave me alone after that because I was getting annoyed.

Wouldn't it be great if we could have a taste test competition between the two? That would be epic.
TwilightThat's the biggest problem with it right there. :il_hahaha:

Please take pics of the stuff you bought btw..! I'm curious with that alice figure you mentioned (you DID get it right ..? Although, $490 is still alot :o)
Upon arrival at the Mall I checked Barnes & Noble for comics and found nothing, but got a "ZOMG! Chick in a manga section!" from a creepy dude and managed to slink away.

We're always thinking about you <3
We do it solely to make your nose feel sore... :il_hahaha:
Hold the phone! Mad Hatteress, perhaps it's the topic that led me to notice this, but is that Rasputin and Victor from Devil Summoner in your signature? If so, bravo!
And MH, now I am thinking about you, so you better sneeze. Now. Now. Now.
Stalkers... :e_wink:We're always thinking about you <3
Awww! That's nice! You're such a sweet... Wait...
I was right! Yay! Yeah, I have the games, though I just got the second one so haven't played much. Rasputin was so funny; I'm really hoping they bring him back for a cameo. ...Though it just occurred to me that he's a bit like Iwata, what with the robot body and the incessant flirting. :iwata: And Victor is pretty amazing too...
We can pick on Foggle since he's still trying to find a copy of the first Devil Summoner game :p:'(
YES! That's so cool you know who they are! Do you have the games as well? I just love Victor to pieces! My buddy always jokes that if I were able I'd hide in random dark spaces in the Gouma-Den to spring out when he least expects it. :il_hahaha:
It's like Bill really wanted to go sightseeing or something.Yeah, tell me about it... Bill has been a bit more friendly than we would've wanted. But not TOO friendly as I'm glad to say he didn't make landfall here and was more bark than bite. This is a welcome contrast to Hurricane Juan five years ago which literally changed the face of our parks and forests forever - I never want to see a bad one like that again. X_x
Windy and wet, at least it's only wet hereBill will likely burn out before it even crosses the Atlantic but I wouldn't doubt if it would affect weather in the UK to some tiny degree. This was a very big system.
Gaia needs to stop sucking me and making me forget about you guys!I thought you were cheating on us with Facebook and Twitter. :e_tongue:
This is actually the first time I've shared what happened because I was afraid people would laugh or think I was nuts.
Hahaha
/points and laughs
You must be nuts :il_hahaha:
I had a ghost incident happen to me when I was only around seven years old. It's something I'll always remember for the rest of my life. And as young as I was, there is no way it was my imagination playing tricks on me.
Because of that one incident, I believe it's certainly possible. eee-yup!
It probably involved his uncle and a fire hose...Hahaha

C'mon, you've gotta go into more detail than that!

Cute shoes, btws! Where did you get those? They're super-unique!
By the way, I love the influx of new avatars, guys! Hat, yours especially made me giggle.
damn school and working, consuming peoples time here..! :il_hahaha:Too true.

Lord Il, can't you just brain-wash her or pull the rope or something?*thinks for a sec* ... oh yeah!
Also I heard YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook are joining forces to create a new community site combining the benefits of all three. It will be called "YouTwitFace!":il_hahaha: Extremely true... I refuse to get a Twitter, but must admit that I fall victim to Facebook and Youtube at times.
My thesis is titled "Fear and Loathing in American Literature: Freedom, the American Dream, and Hunter S. Thompson." It concerns the early work of Hunter S. Thompson, a well-known countercultural writer of the 60's and 70's primarily, and how I believe that his work deserves greater recognition in academia. He's mostly been marginalized as a pop-culture writer because he talks about being high, uses naughty language, and breaks everyone else's rules. Close to half done with the draft, and will have that finished by the end of the month. Then I need to have the final edit prepared by October 24th so that I can get it to my committee. It should be 60-65 pages long in all.Sounds truly fascinating! I'll be rooting for you! You seem to have chosen a unique subject that you're truly passionate about. Good for you! These things should be interesting for you, you know? A couple of people I know who are trying to get English-lit-ish degrees forget that.

I admit i've never played Final Fantasy. The character designs actually turn me off it. Do people think they're attractive or something? I look at stuff like that, mutter "pretty boy..." Then pick up something that looks good. Something with a silent (key word SILENT) protagonist. English voice acting makes me cringe.
Also I heard YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook are joining forces to create a new community site combining the benefits of all three. It will be called "YouTwitFace!"That's hilarious, ElricJC. Truly.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! I got to see Ponyo last night!Y'know, I really do enjoy Miyazaki's works. But I think Ponyo has unfortunately been making me turn a blind eye to it. It's a lot to do with the character design of Ponyo. It's so cute-looking I found myself wondering if this movie was moreso geared for younger audiences. O_o
Ok, guys. I was browsing through some Star Ocean 3 stuff because I used to love that game massively and I found something interesting. I'm pretty sure I know why my favorite was a relatively minor character (Mirage Koas).Absolutely NO idea what you could mean. Nope. Not at all. :e_tongue:

LOL.
Think i'll join in.ugh... Good thing there's just a week left. I know about it only too well through a friend who was brave enough to work at a McD's for (amazingly) three years. Simply put, managers and their employees are never meant to work together in a high paced fast food environment. Does not work. At all.
First, just wanna point out how much fast food restaraunts suck to work at. Especially when you've got a raging manager who psycs me out of thinking straight, I make a mistake, they yell at me. I don't get paid enough to deal with this. Also, being moved out of my bed at 5 in the morning and getting lectured the second I walk in. Just one more week, one more week.
I am back from holiday hoorayDetails, man. Details. ^^
Edit: XD I'm a pedophile scientist!Feel better knowing that we were ALL pedophile scientists here at some point. :e_tongue:
I'm really wondering where the heck Foggle ran off to...
My guess is that he was lured into a white van with promises of candy and a puppy.
Well, to bleed over a bit from the bad luck thread, now I broke my left hand. Specifically, my middle knuckle, when I punched the bathroom counter to force myself to the right as my head was plummeting towards it after slipping on a slick spot in the shower. Yay, typing my thesis for the past week with one finger on my left hand. Oddly enough, I'm still on pace O.o;;Damn, that sucks big time. Glad that it wasn't any more serious than it was though!
Wow, what's the deal? There aren't any new posts at all! Not a single one!Okay, satisfied now? :e_wink:
Okay, satisfied now? :e_wink:
OK... I know it's really bad for a twenty-year-old to be saying this but I really want to see Where the Wild Things Are as well. I loved the book as a kid and the film really looks amazing, like something Jim Henson would have done.
Grr... I found a leprechaun costume I would've loved to wear for Halloween but it was in guy's sizes only. Plus, I could also wear it on Saint Patrick's Day, which is also my birthday, and I'll be turing twenty-one this year. I'd totally go to bars dressed in that costume and dance on the counter or something. I have no interest in drinking but I think I could have fun if I went with a group of people that I know.
I was thinking Elgala, but I don't know if I can style my long purple wig into the trademark curls. Plus, I could use fake blood with Hyatt... Decisions, decisions.
Cool news, laptops rock ..!They do.
That better mean you get paid more then ..!Yeah, hopefully you'll have some overtime pay for that, Hatteress.
i had a sucky time at the hospital. I fell on a sewing needle and it went into my knee. It didn't help that i waited from 11Pm to 5Am to even see the doctor. Then i was waiting in a bed until 4 when i had to go to the operating theatre. I've never been in that situation and i havent been to the doctor for myself in 10 years. It was scawy!!! But i just got home and i can sort of walk so im okay!
But why was there a needle in the carpet? Only my mother could have done it. Is she saying i should just go ahead.... and die? *goes and impersonates Keiichi's flipout*
Oh, yikes! That sucks and my knee feels tingly just thinking about it!
Yeah... As days pass and the memory because less vivid and clear I'm able to get past it a little more. It helped that it was an old person, since they lived a long life and it was probably time for them to go. If it were a kid or something I think I'd be in the loony bin by now. That's what's most important about such an incident - The fact that it was an older individual, it tends to be a little more acceptable.

:il_hahaha: I dunno.... Hyatt and Excel are about the same really.
I found this really hilarious though.
At an old anime board I used to frequent, we actually had a discussion on anime breast sizes. I have absolutely no idea how it started, but it was a fun topic. Excel was actually brought up within the discussion. If I remember correctly, we decided she was a size C.
I have created an awesome monster :il_hahaha:
Ok, let's play a fun game called "I defy you to beat my ES nerdiness"!
Today, I, Pample, made Dungeons and Dragons characters for the ACROSS girls, just in case I wanted to play them in the future.
Excel is a cleric (mostly for the evangelical fun, though I considered barbarian)
Hyatt is a necromancer
Elgala is a rogue
>.>
I bet you cannot win this game, but I think realistically he or she who loses actually wins.
Dean Koontz stole Solarian eyes AND figured out the mystery of said ancient culture: Il Palazzo and Kabapu are INTELLIGENT MUTANT CATS! And not nice ones! :OAh, ah, ah...

Ugh... I'm getting so bummed! *Clings to Micki!* I think the two of us are the only Tintin fans on this forum!Well.. can't say I like either one because it seems I've deprived myself of both. O_o But not intentionally.
Mmmhh Tintin fanatacisum, not good.
Hard not to like Captain Haddock, he's funny ..!
I'll have to say that Captain Haddock's choice of words for cursing is funny as hell. ^^
Haha, is that really a bottle of booze in his hand in your signature, Hat? If so, that's a pretty dang epic children's cartoon.
Ahh, you're right, I suppose it wouldn't have been a big deal in the thirties. Those crazy jive cats. :il_hahaha:
I don't think alcohol in kids' stuff was a big deal back in the 1930s and in the beginning when Haddock was first introduced he was just big drunk, as well as a pretty pathetic character, so yup, that's liquor in his hand.
OMG, I already got the Tintin set that has volumes 6-10 in the mail! It's a good thing I know the set has an English language option or I'd be freaking out because of all the French on it. Maybe I should take pictures and have Pample read it to me :pI missed that before!
HUZZAH FRENCH!
WTF?!A sharp breadcrumb. :e_tongue:
I just stepped on something sharp on the floor and now my freaking foot is bleeding! Not bad but what the hell was it?!
I wonder if something's up with my computer? I'm getting a lot of "trouble loading page" messages. It's your comp.

I just scored an interview at a decent, respectable company for tomorrow! Pample is excited!w00t!!! Go you! ^^

I got in the other day, so I think it's OK now.
So for the first time in over five years, I'm getting ready for an algebra test. For a glorified (salaried) customer service job. TOTALLY LAME, GUYS. I always convinced myself that in the real world I wouldn't need to know calculate the size of a flagpole by measuring a near-by picket fence. OH HOW WRONG YOU WERE, PAST!ME...You have to do an algebra test for this customer service job? Wow.. I've never heard of this happening to anyone before. O_o
...At least the IQ Test was fun!
I'll post pics here later in an hour or so..
Those are some heavy decorations man :DYeah, very heavy, Micki! lol!
Oh, and not a single trick or treater came to any houses on my road. Depressing. We haven't had trick or treaters at the house here in 3+ years.
We'd never ban you from here <3
I was just worried for a moment I got banned, or something! You wouldn't be banned.
^lol! It was just a spur of the moment thing I thought I'd do. If I had planned things better there would've been better quality pics, me tinks.
@E^D Crow: Love that look!!! How about some close-ups. XD

...In other words, Lord Il, seek! seek! KILL!

Don't bid yourself dry of money now :(

Hatteress, I was at the comic shop today having a looksee and found six cold cast Tintin figures in the stores' glass display case for sale. I knew you'd go crazy for these. ^^
ARGH! I deleted all my convention pictures by accident a few hours ago. Miwa is no more on my camera. But I think a friend took duplicates, so semi-meh.NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......!:pedronooo:
But the AVP movies make me cry... The figure implies it's that alien in the first AVP movie who impaled a Predator... Cool scene, but silly pointless broken movie nonthelessYou and me both. I'd say the first AVP movie was the worst - waaayyyyy too cheesy. Pure sacrilege! Fans wanted to see this pairing on the big screen for years and.... that's what we got. -_-

Eeep! Shh! I always get paranoid if I reveal what I'm bidding on openly someone will be like "Oh, neat! I like that too! I think I shall bid on it as well!". I'm just so miffed at that one troglodyte who also bid and drove the price up.
Do you have any comic book shops in your local area? If so, I'm sure they'd only be too happy to order in something for you. They deal with specialty items like this all the time.QuoteHatteress, I was at the comic shop today having a looksee and found six cold cast Tintin figures in the stores' glass display case for sale. O_O And I suppose if they were fairly priced there's no way you would buy them for me and I could pay you back?
Do you have any comic book shops in your local area? If so, I'm sure they'd only be too happy to order in something for you. They deal with specialty items like this all the time.
However, if you really want, I could probably get prices for you next month when I pick up volume 20 of Excel Saga. I'll look 'em over, but I've a feeling they'd be kinda pricey though. I remember the Haddock figure had to be at least 8 inches tall. They range in size.
There is a comic shop a little ways away from where I go to school at. I'll ask but I'm not sure if they can get in the same stuff as your area can. If they can get them I'm at least getting Captain Haddock! I have a nice spot for him right on my desk where he can keep me company. All you can do is ask.
If that doesn't work I'd very much appreciate it if you'd tell me the prices the next time you visit the shop; please just don't go out of your way for it.No prob at all.
EDIT: DAMMIT TO HELL! I give up! That jerk just swooped in and outbid me again! I think he and I are the only two who want that sweater! It's not fair! *Throws her whiskey against the wall and proceeds to have a temper tantrum*:eltongue: Nothing worse than an angry drunk. :e_tongue:
@Hatteress: How did that auction go?
^lol!
Think of it this way.. That's over sixty bucks still in your pocket. So maybe you actually won instead. ^^
Keep checking for possible future listings. Maybe another will pop up. And with less competition.
Twilight offends me in so many ways, but especially as a writer. That someone with so little writing talent can make so much money off of moronic tweens and teens, and frighteningly enough mature-aged women that it shames every struggling writer with genuine talent that actually tries to craft something intelligent and worthwhile. It's just depressing. I've bitched about this in chat ad nauseam, but with New Moon fast approaching the hatred and loathing just builds within me more and more. And I actually read a little of Twilight just to see what it was like. God, so awful.
I never said every novel had to be art (I mean hell my own novel certainly does NOT qualify as fine literature, and I should now.
I never said every novel had to be art (I mean hell my own novel certainly does NOT qualify as fine literature, and I should know. I just passed my defense for my Master's degree in Literature :D). But you can still tell in even the funniest, light-hearted of popular works, or the better thrillers or fantasy novels when a writer has genuine skill and has applied great care to the craft of their work.
In this day in age it seems like people would rather read pop-culturish trash rather than a novel that is a true work of art.Quoted for truth! It certainly seems that way at times.

I'm glad you think so; I agree! Her fame irks me to no end too. She doesn't have much talent in storycrafting, but apparently she may be on to something in psychology.
Also, sorry if I sound too uppity about being a mainly plebeian reader :il_hahaha:
Don't worry, I'm not defending That Woman, mainly I was just teasing her.
I didn't know (at least I don't think I knew?) you were pitching a book! What kind?! That's so exciting!
Ahem... so Elric and Maddy, Ohayocon's gonna be pretty cool. Just sayin'
-whistles innocently and runs away-

This is BS...
So there's only four weeks left of this quarter at college. I have the same teacher for a residential class and one that's online. I got a strange e-mail from both classes a few days ago saying that a new teacher would be taking over and today during my residential class, although they couldn't get into detail, I learned that teacher no longer teaches for this school anymore. I really liked him so I'm very sad! Worst of all is that because it happened so suddenly the poor lady they have taking over for him is really lost and not sure what to do while the one online is frustrated because my former teacher was really far behind in grades.
*sigh* :e_crying:
^ Yarrr... But I really need to do homework...I do believe Hatt's rubber arm has been twisted. :e_tongue:
Oh, what the heck.
FIRST SNOWFALL OF THE YEAR HERE!Second snowfall here. Just happened on the week-end. Not much to shovel which is just the way I like it. ^^
"I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use." - Galileo Galilei
"Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves."
This discussion is somewhat contradicting. Is there a belief that is one hundred percent logical? No. The way people view cloning is derived from how they view life. People view lives based on both facts and beliefs. No one can view life from facts alone because there are limited facts on how life began. I think it is then logical to conclude that cloning is viewed from at least two beliefs. Evolution and Creation. Evolutionists would say that since there is no judge and that cloning would be fine because everything got here by chance in the first place. Creationists would say that human life is to begin only by the author of Creation and no one else. The Bible says that humans are to be the Lord's servants and that there is no servant greater than his Master. I am a Christian and a creationist. I believe the Bible and the Bible says that God created the Ten Commandments. He then decides what is right and wrong and regulation ends where He says it is suppose to end.- Joshua Schustak
I get your post. it makes sense. I get that your a christian and that god created the ten commandments. Isn't one of those commandments "though shalt not kill."? So if we as humans follow the bible then there wouldn't be animals on the extinction list or endangered list because we as humans killed them not for food or survival but out of greed which is a deadly sin. So along those same lines wouldn't it be against god if you didn't due everything technology allowed to keep this animal alive and growing?-Megan Sayre
In Deuteronomy (meaning a second law), we have Moses' discourse to the chosen people before they enter The Promised Land. The commandments are repeated in chapter 5, thus we again hear the command, Thou Shalt Not Kill.-Joshua Schustak
Following just a few chapters later in Moses same discourse we read:
However, in any of your communities you may slaughter and eat to your hearts desire as much meat as the Lord, your God, has blessed you with... (12:15)
After the Lord your God has enlarged your territory, as he promised you, when you wish meat for food, you may eat it at will, to your hearts desire... (12:20)
Another approach to the Ten Commandments is that they can be broken down into two distinct categories. The first three commandments pertain to our relationship with God:
I am the Lord your God; you shall not have strange gods before me.
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
Remember to keep holy the Sabbath or The Lord's day
The next seven are about our relationship with others:
Honor your father and your mother.
You shall not kill.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.
You shall not covet you neighbor's goods.
It is important not to take verses out of context
Personally I don't think anyone or any animal should be cloned. I just think it's wrong.-Catherine Zuidema
President George Bush said cloning is wrong "because no human life should be started or ended as the object of an experiment."-Jashua Schustak
Bush also doesn't know how to spell Connecticut.-Me
Evolutionary THEORY is not a reliable source to believe. Darwin based some of his beliefs off of Ernst Haekel. Have you read the book entitled "Haeckel's fraud and forgery"? Check it out...
I'm bored, so for you entertainment here's some stuff that's been going on the cloning discussion topic (Joshua is the biggest tool of them all)

If there is anything i hate more besides old milk ... it's headaches in the evening and mornings ...
I wish i didn't always forget my dreams :(
And beets. Screw that root! :icon_eek:I agree most fervently.
I agree most fervently.Of course, of course, VERY serious stuff, that Religion!
And the Pentabarf made me giggle. I love it!
I giggled most respectfully of course because religion is Serious Business.
So yeah about the Spareribs...I like on the package, written in english "'The American Way'". I don't know why, but that made me giggle.
*pic
And i seriously was going to pose too, but it was sorta awkward, with so many people christmas shopping today ... They even looked weird at me from holding the cam :e_embarassed:
I was such a brat about it I wouldn't drink anything and ended up back in the hospital because I got dehydrated. After waking up from my tonsil operation, I was never so thirsty in my entire life and was literally begging for water. They wouldn't give it to me at first. I think the anesthetic was to blame.
Micki!, I totally dare you to put those wooden figures in some sort of naughty positioning, take a pic, leave them as they are, and then leave.
*dies laughing at the thought*
Please post pics if you ever do this!!! :eevil:

Maddy, I love the Angry Beavers pic in your sig! I still seperate the 'ed' from words sometimes. "Oh, no, I am scare-ed!"
^Awesome!I stay far away from the Spoiler threads, lest I be Spoiled! :icon_eek: I don't want to know, until I read it.
Spoilers tend to be a dangerous obstacle to avoid when browsing this board. I wouldn't doubt if we've inadvertantly "injured" more than a few people. :e_tongue:
I saw a Maddy Doppleganger at a supermarket. I spotted this uncannily similar woman, then cross-referenced my find with my mental database, then was like whaaaaa?
You would look good in a lime green coat, fyi.
BTW, i demand that someone here buys the EVA sneakers. I can't get shoes delivered in Aus.... Oh my god, I don't believe what I'm seeing. (Am I really seeing this???) O_o Never knew there were EVA shoes being produced. I'll bet they have a hefty price tag, huh?

It's been kind of weird: for the last few weeks I've been hearing a lot of Jem references. It all started after my cousin and I gave each other eighties makeup makeovers. I guess I became more aware of the references after that. :/ I blame the theme song for so many world problems.lol! I can't believe I actually used to watch that show after school back in the day. Thing is, the music on most of the episodes was kinda catchy.
TRULY TRULY TRULY OUTRAGEOUS
I always wished that The Misfits would destroy Jem And The Holograms big time. :eevil: Nothing against The Holograms though! I just wanted to see an all-out fight between the rival bands... Fists flying, hair pulling, nail scratching, Jem's holographic projection earrings getting damaged and exposing her true identity... bwahahahahaha.....Lord Il, you made me giggle. Girl/Band fight!
So Maddy, you and I have to have a talk. Your love of tintin has led me to... well, to actually notice tintin. XD
So it's your fault that when I watched the Simpsons for the first time in quite a while, I giggled at the homoerotic embrace Tintin and Captain Haddock share at the end of Anne Hathaway's rendition of Moon River. And that, I'm afraid, is a sentence I never anticipated nor welcomed typing.
Oh dear.
Maaan, where is everyone? The forum's been all desolated and sad for the past week!
I got my freaking Phoenix Wright art book I order nearly FOUR MONTHS AGO!Ouch.. That's a long wait! After about a month of waiting I would've went into panic mode.
Ouch.. That's a long wait! After about a month of waiting I would've went into panic mode.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
So after wrecking two CDs I finally got the third one to burn after downloading an MP3 converter. The result? A happy dance which then led to me tripping, falling, and then pain.
I wanna be there and blow on your sore spot..!oh dear Micki's getting over heated again
Today, we have TOO MUCH FUCKING SNOW!!!Yeah, we got snowed-on here last night..... fugly white crap everywhere. It didn't make for a pleasant drive to work this morning.
Gettin' ready to go to Ohayocon now! I think my Miwa costume is much improved, but I just know I'm going to forget something crucial. Although, i don't really use facebook at all... (i'm just there for the family)B-but..! What's wrong with OUR family here?? :e_wink:
I'm drooling over this ring - a duelist ring from Utena. It's made by a professional jewelry maker. It looks just like the one in the show. It's pricey, but worth it.Are you getting it? One thing's for certain, it'll be unique. Not many would have one.
I was waiting patiently for the new Genshiken book, but it turns out its a light novel. On top of that, the reading level is classified as baby to preschool - What the heck?!That's really odd. Any idea what group or system rated it?

If you hate the new Star Wars movies, sit down and watch this. Warning: You will need to set aside a good 70 minutes, because this is the most thorough (and dementedly hilarious) review of any movie ever. I've watched this like three times just for the laughs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxKtZmQgxrI.Wow... 7 parts. I did 'em all. *whew!*
................Undoubtedly.
Am I the only person on this planet who liked Jarjar?
Have you seen Alice in Wonderland, Maddie?
Lo, there shall be in the small city of Ames a true Mecca for all nerds. I shall see it done, by god, even if I have to remain flipping burgers and collecting data for a small-time, dead end website while I do it. GO BIG OR GO HOME, RAAAHHHH!That's the way to do it, ElricJC. Just take the bull by the horns and wrestle it down to the ground. It's the only way it'll happen.
I guess your on about alice in wonderland, thought about seeing it then notice all the talkative brats and kiddies going in for it so I saw legion instead.
god i'm miserable, been what nearly 3 months since I had a job and I can't find a new one yet (well I found plenty but they wouldn't accept me XO) and they said the Recession was over and there was loads of jobs out there XO
Not to mention the funny pains in my chest! It sure is a weird feeling when you're walking along and suddenly it feels like someone's reached in and started squeezing my heart. It hurts like heck and gets worse with every breath I take. Nearly 21 years of this... When does life get better?!
I don't want no bowling ball-Maddy D:
You'd have an interesting new nickname here. :e_tongue:I don't want no bowling ball-Maddy D:
You'll just have to wait and see, won't you? Mwahahahaha...
http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=25219Great news! I always knew there was so much untapped potential left with 'the Terror that Flaps in the Night.' I really think Disney kicked themselves in the teeth by shelving DD all these years.
NO WAY! MADDY IS EXCITED, GUYS!
Of all the shows I miss, Darkwing Duck is near the top. To see that he's being brought back in comic form is just terrific! I hope that they're good and maybe just a little bit more "adult" like Batman: The Animated Series was. I'm not to thrilled about the art, but that won't stop me from giving it a chance!
By the way...Don't worry. You'll be cured before you know it. :il_hahaha:
Today is my birthday...
Shiouji's age...

anyways, what the hell is that thing in the pizza, i can't recognize it... :OI'm still trying to figure out what I'm looking at in the photo... T_T
I need some help, Maddy. ^^;; Is it the beige-colored thing, or the silvery thing pushed to the side of the plate? Maybe both? O_o[/color]
Sometimes we all become too trusting of food manufacturers. We want to assume what they make is safe and don't give it a second thought when we bite into it.
Except for the "he's" HA1L got it right.
I'm tempted to try a cheaper alternative on amazon, but i'm scared of the possibilities of it either setting the house on fire, or frying my motherboard... :elcry:Yeah, be careful with that. I heard of someone buying some sort of a third party AC adapter for a handheld game system (don't recall what it was) and it slowly burned out the display. Even though the package said it could be used for that game system, the specs were slightly too high for it.
If you really, really want to buy a non-Toshiba adapter to save a few $$, just ensure that you check the specs carefully against your original (amperage and volts). The specs are usually listed somewhere on the fat plastic transformer housing. Compatibility means everything.
I know for sure there's nothing wrong with my laptop internally since my friend has the same exact laptop I have and mine runs fine with his adapter. That was really lucky you could get another adapter to test with. Good stuff!
I haven't forgotten about you all! Really... Just been a little busy lately, working a lot of overtime and such. But that's over, now, so I figured I'd stop in to say hi.Actually I was just wondering where you were a few days ago.
Oh, and what's up with Maddy being a "Guest"? Did she close her account!? :icon_eek:I was a bit confuzzled by that myself when first learning of it. O_o But... she knows where we're at. :e_wink:
I'm gonna have to move outYou have to move out with no job?! That's horrible! O_o
I feel miserable, I'm gonna have to move out with no job so it might be difficult but I can't stay under the same roof as my parents for much longer
If i opened a bookstore, i'd fill it with all the books I liked, sure wouldn't be much selection.hmm.. The seller might've been once beaten up by a kangaroo. :e_wink:
On a 'nother note, i've come to despair. I've had my heart set on a Cloud with Hardy Daytona figure, but decided that one i painted myself would be cheaper for materials, plus it would use up the model building skills i've been building. Someone on eBay is selling an original model kit 13 years old, but he won't ship to Australia. Why??????????????????? IM MAD!
bookshops fine, I'm after world conquestGood luck with that. lol!

Yeah, that's it!
A kangaroo might've beat up the seller some time ago.
And now that person is prejudiced to ever send anything to Australia? :e_tongue:
Seriously, I do find that strange though.
I wish I had a PS2. ._.Give me the symptoms your PS2 is suffering from. I'm curious.
Well, technically I do, but it turned out to be broken when I got it, and a look on the internet tells me the motherboard's probably fried, so I'd be better off getting a new one.
Too bad the only work I can do right now is freelancing, and it seems with the freelancing site I'm working from no one will hire you to even change a light bulb without at least 4 years professional experience in changing light bulbs.Getting your foot in the door can be difficult. But sometimes it can depend a lot on who you know and if you can get good references to back you up.
Your whole collection was lost? Oh lord... :e_crying:Yes? You rang?
I lent out my whole collections of Excel Saga to a friend (1-17) and they were somehow lost, so no constant reminders have been lying around.I got a car battery and a plastic bag...perhaps five minutes alone will make your collection show up :il_hahaha:. Jokes aside, that's really a bummer, especially with the whole out-of print issue with some of the volumes. :e_crying:
Gee, you guys certainly know how to make a girl giggle about otaku heartbreak. :egood::il_hahaha:
Nah, the person in question is a good friend and offered to buy a new set for me. Ears were chewed off though, I assure you.
Anyone else feel this thread is turning into an agony column?nah.. :e_tongue:
hee hee, i feel giddy because I finished my assignment. It sucks, who knows if I'll pass.Good luck just the same. :ehail:
Those long weeks are terrible exckilla. I work 7-3.15 shifts and I couldn't imagine doing anymore than that! Ohh, it really sucked when I had to do 6-4 shifts at McDonalds - brrr.I'm finally back to normal hours this week after a month. Getting up at 5:20am wasn't fun. X_x But on the upside, traffic was much lighter on the commute to work.
For some reason, I went to bed at 12 and couldn't fall asleep until 2...Goddamn this has been happening to me a lot lately and I hate it. :sumysad:
How was your day, dear?It was awesome, honey. :il_hahaha:
oooh... a date! Do dates taste good?
aw. oh well, it's better to meet the girl of your dreams face to face. yes, i can imagine now... she, on the other side of the room, you feel your heart skip a beat. When she looks at you, your heart stopsI wonder if anyone's actually died this way. :il_hahaha:
Mmm, nice place, saw my first snake in the wild ever there. Tiny cute yellow thing. It was delicious.Raw or cooked? :e_tongue:
Y'know, I wouldn't doubt it. Stranger things have happened.aw. oh well, it's better to meet the girl of your dreams face to face. yes, i can imagine now... she, on the other side of the room, you feel your heart skip a beat. I hate the beach, really.heh.. Sure you do. And I believe that. :e_tongue:
I really wanna do a lot in a year so I can look back and feel i've accomplished something.Same here. At this time of year I have the tendancy to reflect back on it to see what I've done. But I can't come up with much! I blame work for eating up so much time, but what can you do. It's a work to live and live to work situation with money making the world go 'round.
^Full color too! :e_shocked:Yeah, apparently Rikdo sometimes colors in pages for the serialized single chapters in Young King OURS. I'd love to see all of them someday... :iwata:
^A luxury I feel we will never have. Unless Viz re-releases them maybe in a VizBig collection (which I doubt will happen considering it isn't hugely popular, but maybe in years to come, since they have the licence for ES) or starts releasing new volumes with colour. But, so pretty!I remain optimistic with the upcoming re-release of the anime. This could spark more interest in the manga. Maybe stuff will happen?
Good god do I hope so. Withdrawal symptoms, man, withdrawal symptoms!^A luxury I feel we will never have. That's a great idea! Now if only I could draw...That would be a concern of mine. Not everyone can draw.
That store in particular is a rip off. Going home I saw another chain that had $1.54. Not good either. But this is the Diesel - the expensive-ish one.Once upon a time it was diesel that was the cheaper fuel. Times sure have changed. O_o
If I can say so, living in Australia is a rip-off. It really is. And you don't get much in return.:e_shocked:

Been quiet around here. Even I'm not coming as much as I usually do.You paint incredible pictures with your descriptions. I'm jealous!!!
Ah, it's Autumn. Of course, you can't tell here - there aren't any decidious trees. But the gum trees are flowering and the air smells like honey. If the flowers weren't 10m high, I might see the bees. Yah, and you can hear the flying foxes at night.
I'm going to Queensland on Sunday. North Queensland. Rainforest, coral reefs, tropical islands, palm trees. I'm there. Perfect temperature days and impressive lightning storms at night. It's still warm, but without the box jellyfish that come out in Summer that paralyze/kill you if you touch them.
wut.
Wut wut?Ooo, and don't forget the Icelandic volcano eruption. :e_wink:
The End of the World was "predicted" with earthquakes and exciting stuff like that.
Meanwhile, the Duke awaits at GameStop. I'll probably pick it up this weekend. Reviews have been mixed about it. hmm..If by "mixed" you mean "horrendous." :il_hahaha:
It's not a masterpiece, but it's tons of fun and also hilarious!I've been hearing that a lot. It's gotta be true!
I've been hearing that a lot. It's gotta be true!Oh, definitely! I think you'll enjoy it. :)
I've also heard that Duke's one-liners are just as good and cheesy as ever. :ehail:
It HAS been quiet around here. C'mon guys, say anything, even if it's stupid and makes no sense.Definately.
Stupid punks.. if they didn't act so crazy, I could've had my licence alot quicker.Randamo, do I ever know what you mean. It's getting more strict to apply for a drivers license here too. Not only that but you have to factor in car insurance as well. Younger (new) drivers in general are stereotyped as being a 'high risk' group and are treated as such by having to shell out tons of money to be insured for the road. I've heard some insurance companies will actually refuse to insure younger drivers. Discrimination has gotten pretty bad.
As they say it's better to be safe than sorry. Saying that i'm 32 and I don't even know how to drive, I have just been to lazy, keep getting pester to learnIt's really not that big of a deal. Especially if your local transit system is really good. Owning and driving a vehicle can be a huge expense and a pain in the arse. More power to those who don't need to drive, that's what I say. Get your drivers license only if you yourself want it.

I cannot see! Here it is. That site doesn't do hotlinking.
Uwaa :elcry: I see a brand new set of Super Dimension Fortress Macross. That's super expensive and I want them but eBay tells me when I go to ask them that the seller can't respond to my question. Why? Is it because he's from the awesome US of A and he doesn't wanna sell to a gross Australian? I'm sad!Same thing happened to me a few months ago. I found a US listing for a mint condition car part. Very difficult to find in such good, used shape for the price. When I went to ask for a shipping quote to Canada, I got the same deally. O_o
I made Nikujaga today.Interesting. I've never had Nikujaga. Share your recipe?
Who would read a review about a forum? Don't you just lurk a bit and join in if you like it?
And if there were ever any problems at all, I'd want to be notified immediately.
Hey, though, I'M a girl and have never noticed really anything weird on this forum to make me feel the urge to speak up for women. In fact, this is one of the cleaner forums. Barely any swearing and so on.
I'll get off the soap box now and tell you some great news :-) i'm getting round to decorating my flat this week. Tomorrow i get the paint then will start painting :-) i have a bad track record for painting and DIY so please wish me luck and that i don't mess it up lolYou really can't mess up painting. I remember a friend saying once that "an ounce of paint covers a multitude of sin." Depending on how you look at that saying, it does make some sense. Sometimes it just feels better to make a radical color change for the better. I believe the rule of thumb is to have brighter colors to give more open-ness to a room (especially important if the rooms are small).
Yes E^D, been there and done that last weekend too. Even though the last time I was up there was in the eighties, it felt like the first time all over again. And the new exterior lighting system is trippy to see at night. :e_pleased:
Also: Toronto is an awesome city. Been there once; took 9 hours to drive from New Jersey...
Lots to do in and around the city. CN Tower was awesome! O_O Especially standing on the highest glass floor in the world!
E^D
Of course, the best part of having so many cultures crammed into such a small area is the choice of food! There is so much variety around here! That's one of the things I love about Austin! But I'm in College Station now, where there aren't so many options. :sumysad:
(and that's not even including New York City)
If I go out of my way no more than a 20 or 30 minute drive, I can get just about anything I could possibly crave.
From what I remember, Toronto has some diverse resturaunts... Which was unfortunate to learn, because I was on a tight budget that weekend. It was either room service, or Tim Horton's...That's too bad. I didn't get a chance to sample much different cuisine there either.
:elannoyed:
E^D
depends on the country.True. It was never stated where and what government(s) would supposedly collect such data.
Glad to see you again, excel-kleinwald. :ehail: It's been too long.
So I overheard people in my class speak about a defibrillator in some crude joke, I thought they were merely joking around, but then I actually noticed one downstairs, the heck:At my workplace we have to update our First Aid training every few years. The instructor showed us a similar unit and gave us a briefing on it. Apparantly these portable defibrillators are very expensive to buy (at least here) so not many institutions will have them on hand. Locally, hardly any schools would see these AED units.

Does the school actually expect things could go so horribly wrong that we needed something like this..?! It's not even that far from the hospital for crying out loud..!
I'm not really sure if I should be relieved for the safety measures they're taking, or worried over the fact that they just put it there because they actually expect we'll need it!!!
I hate to double post, but this thread sure seems silent, it's chit chat thread, not quit chat thread..!Beautiful. You should.
Man I should make a poem, that was such a clever phrase
I still like Excel Saga, but admitably I don't consider myself a no. 1 fan at this point. Maybe the honeymoons over, we've been married 5 years or so and we're a bit bored of each other. Hard to keep the love alive, y'know. He's away so often...lol! That's a fun comparison. At least "he" will be around twice this year. :e_wink:
I'll keep that in mind :oFrom what I've been hearing, a lot of this hotmail problem has been fixed.
is it me or does this forum feel a bit dead.Just a tad, lately.
I'm not. I'm a NEET. :il_hahaha:YAYYY!!! Woooooooo! :e_tongue:
Looking forward to Excel Saga 24. Only 11 days to go.*checks calendar* So.. it's next week?

... The Pyro... not the dude dressed as Britney Spears...
Although I cracked up when I saw him :D
Sounds about the same as me.
Sadly, I've come to dislike my job. It's so much more physical from what I had been doing, at my other job that is 20 mins down the road and paid the same amount. I've lost money due to spending $70+ a week in petrol.
will submissions still be open in July?I wish I could tell you. I don't have any info for the deadline. T_T
