Resources / Re: Where To Read (Excel Saga Manga)
« on: August 21, 2020, 07:54:42 AM »
I'd like to add, the website abebooks.com has a variety of bookstores listed, with a couple of the volumes also available!
Vol 26 ofc is the hard one to get a hold of.. but almost every book there is listed, as well with a reasonable price, ranging between $2,50 to $5, some go a bit above, but majority, especially earlier volumes can possibly be found there for a good price.

Little worried with the availability sometimes, since i get nervous when a store says they one a single stock item left. but it's worth checking out.

Back in the day, i used to order every single volume from the site Bookdepository, but these days only a couple earlier volumes are still available there.

Alternatively,
If all else fails, and desperate measures seem like a tactic, you can potentially do research of existing smaller comic book stores in USA and the UK, and contact them, in case they potentially have them physically lying about the place, and have been unnoticed buy other buyers due to their lack of online listings and possibly scarce visitor rate.
I've been lucky personally, to sometimes find some obscure and even rare books in thrift stores and smaller book/comic shacks who had all sorts of stuff lying around just for the taking! and they ofc don't really have an organized inventory listed online, so contacting several shops personally might be a last ditch effort to really get in there and find that last book you need!

Far fetched, i know.. But we're listing all options here, even for those who will go great lengths to get there!

Anyway, for earlier volumes in particular, every book save for 15 and 26 are listed on abebooks so far:

Well Foggle and I looked up a fan translated version of it online and actually found one, art looks great, but honestly, it feels rushed story wise and so far I have next to no interest in the characters, I'm honestly kind of disappointed... I guess you CAN blame it on a possibly poor translation, but even then, trying to look past that the pacing and characters still feel off and forced, and not very likable so far...

I kinda hope it does well in later volumes are better, I guess characters in it can get on a bad start, but it honestly seems like this first impression was supposed to grab readers right then and there, and personally it didn't work well at all on me, like I said I think it feels forced, and is probably aimed at a different target group altogether...

But at least it's nice visually, Rikudou's art is only getting better..!

Oh Swedish, well yeah it's all close enough, I was actually going to check on that, but then I somehow was certain it was Norwegian, and blah i was wrong haha..!
I'm pretty sure the last submissions were actually for the last book, but maybe I'm totally wrong..!

Maybe you could email Carl about it just to make sure..!

Creativity / Re: Ragathol's big fanart thread! (nudity alert)

Man Rag, your stuff is freaking awesome :D I'm happy you're still going strong wiht doing art and stuff..! Your style is very recognizable as well, and it suits the stuff you make too, so imaginary high five to that man !!!

I'd make individual comments on the stuff, but there's so much of it posted at once, I'll probably take another look later and then properly say cool stuff about them, haha..!

As for naughtiness in drawings, I personally think there's nothing wrong with that stuff, but I can see it being a killer to some sensitive visitors, but that's nothing a nice spoiler tag or a link or warning can't fix to be honest, or all those things at once if you will..!

Thanks Ragathol, it's pretty obvious by now that I still haven't gotten a hold of any consistent art style after all these years though, but some of those were intentionally made to look different, haha..! Also It's great you understand the shark dialogue, I forgot that you were Norwegian :D

It's a shame you missed the submissions for the last book, I would have loved to see anything new by you as well..!
But that's what we have the forums here for I guess, it's the next best thing to the oubliette anyway :elhail:

[edit:]
Here's more stuff for relevancy's sake

This is a some kind of space hero, I made it with a fineliner and water colors that i borrowed from a friend, It makes me want to get my own watercolors to play around with..!

This is a woman in a Pringles can, and I gradually added details I was told to add while i was on a skype call

This is a boy who is being served a glass of refreshing chocolate milk by a rabbit on drugs:

And to end my Quik bunny obsession (I blame that one old superman comic for this) here's a drawing of a fat Quik bunny scratching his junk !!!
Now, even as a moderator, I can't even make out whether this is offensive, or just plain ridiculous, but it's not explicit so it should merely give people a chuckle at most, or not, or against all logic make them thirsty after a glass of Nesquik...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This is an undressed woman with amnesia (I think, honestly, or rather I didn't think at all when I made this) with walrus teeth, who is wondering why she has to escape Mexico in a boat, while being chased by a dolphin with an afro, an alligator  and Speedy Gonzales, but unfortunately my PC killed itself during the MS Paint session and the monitor froze as well, so I took a photo of it before I could finish the drawing, you can still see the cursor in MS Paint on the top of the pyramid thing, hahaha..!

I made most of these at school on a sheet of paper, the only actual effort put into it is obviously the girl scout though haha
Excel is also there, it's sort of half-assed though, I just wanted to draw her shorts for fun and they didn't turn out that great, and it looked so empty so I drew her being disgusted over her large chest..!
It's pretty massive though, I was too lazy to actually resize this one, but on the other hand, it gives you an insight of what paper actually looks when you get really close to it..!

I also drew this on a strip of tape on one of the drawing boards at school..!

Ah, if it did, does it mean that your comemmorative artbook isn't so valued to you anymore..?
Which by chance means that you could send it to some fortunate people who do want it, relaly badly..?

*nudge nudge wink wink* :e_wink:

I expect a full fledged Ice King Cosplay of that same person later, it would look amazing :D

That's pretty cool, pretty surreal looking too though, these characters weren't meant to look real in any shape or form afterall :il_hahaha:

We're not giving up, every now and then we look for it, in hope that some sorry soul who has no sense of collectibles would sell one (or better, two) online so we could grab it, but it's next to impossible to find it..!
I actually considered sending Rikudou an email about it, hoping it was possible to buy a copy straight from him, but I doubt he'd be able to read the message, or worse, not have any copies available himself at all...

Can't stress how much we'd like to own this, so if any copies are available and you guys aren't planning on grabbing it, please let us know about it!!! :elhail:
