Yes! I totally saw him live last year. (The real Stephen Hawking). He did like, a forty minute set, then crowd dived into a mass of physics and chemistry teachers/students/researchers. It was wild man. :twisted:

Okay seriously, I saw him in San Jose. He did a lecture on...what was it exactly? Origins of the universe, and the relation of time and space and whatnot I do believe. He had a lot of really funny (though somewhat bad, which is what made them good) puns, graphics, analogies, etc., etc. Pretty cool stuff...for science anyway.

Yoko Kanno has been a recent fav of mine since Ghost In The Shell was made into a series.

"Some Other Time" (A bit down-tempo, but a nice listen)

"Inner Universe" (Features Origa on vocals)

"Rise" (Also has Origa on vocals)


Yoko Kanno's music style sometimes reminds me of Bjork's stuff.

Speaking of Bjork, I've been listening to her newer single "All Is Full of Love". The musical arrangement on this one is almost creepy... In a good way! Someone made an amv featuring this song with clips from Silent Hill's 'Pyramid Head'. Strangely enough, it's a perfect marriage of the two. :lol: It's on YouTube for viewing.

I just seem to have a thing for songs that talk about drag queens. Also, it was the very first Garbage song I ever heard (thanks to the game Amplitude) so it's special to me since it introduced me to the band.

Been awhile since I listen to the Gorilaz. I only really liked three or four of their songs. It was their music videos that grabbed me. I love the animation!

Meh, I've always though they were a little dull. Everyone I knew back in '05 had a copy of demon days or at least had feelgood inc. on their ipod (god that song got played out QUICK), but I was the only one that was unfazed by them. The videos are nice, though; But their recent one was a little overkill (Bruce Willis....really?).

ehhh... that single is a little disappointing. It feels like a rejected b-side from their last album and they sound like they're on Quaaludes. Then again they haven't made anything new for over 7 years, so who knows. The track is not that bad, so it might grow on me.

Anyways, I'm listening to a lot of Pavement right now. Specifically their debut album "Slanted and Enchanted", and I'm glad to say that I'm enjoying it. I guess that makes me a hipster now. :elcry:

I really am anticipating their new album since their last one was kind of....ass. Although it did have some good songs, it was too inconsistent and streamlined to have enough re-listenable value. These new songs sound like they're trying to mix the moody and dark atmospheric tones of their 1st release and the dumbed down hooky version of themselves they created on the last album, and so far it seems like it's a winning combo. Anyways I pre-ordered it, so I'll see if my excitements are just on Thursday.

Listened to Cake on the way home from work. The music sometimes sounds exactly the same but i love it anyway. Each song has a different feel. I also like the laidback style of his singing. Puts me in the mood for a mellow friday afternoon.

And i have Plastic beach by the gorillaz. it's more electronica and rap than i would like it to be, there aren't any stand out songs [i thought] but 1 continuous journey throughout the cd. enjoyable.

Just wanted to add: their first cd is probably my favourite cd because they sing throughout the songs and dont repeat themselves over and over again. Loved demon days but like Taste said, everything on the track feels too familiar and overplayed. I'd like to like feel good inc. because it's one of the more solid songs, but everyone loved it... which made me feel unspecial if i liked it. Because of it's popularity, I thought liking it put me on the same level as those that listen to beyonce or mariah carey. I'm serious, it's popularity put me off.

Aside from Brians' flashy persona and cheesy lyrics, His bands music is actually quite good. I've also been listening to a lot of Billy Bragg which can be very relaxing during midterms.

I think the band needs more exposure than the pop icon, no offence. :il_hahaha:
It's a shame that most of their discography is out of print and cost a crap load of money now. Sure there are 2 "Best of" cd's, but I feel that "Best of" releases are a bit tacky and don't really give much good input on a bands material aside from a few chart toppers...

Possibly one of the best folk artists ever. I actually find his music more driven on human emotion and experience rather than politics.

Saw Electric Six live on Saturday (and into Sunday, I suppose :e_pleased:)! They played a lot of my favorite songs, like Devil Nights, Dance Epidemic, Clusterfuck, Naked Pictures (Of Your Mother), and Down at McDonnelzzz. I also got a copy of their new album (which is awesome; I am in love with Psychic Visions and Interchangeable Knife) and a badass shirt that gets me weird looks around campus because no one here's heard of 'em. :il_hahaha:

I would just like to point out that Electric Six's cover of Ruberband Man is a really, really difficult song to play on Beat Hazard Ultra...  It has kicked my ass a few times already.

I'm listening to a lot more music because of that game.  Right now: Chemical Brothers.
After all these years, I just found out that their style is called Big Beat Electronica.

Chocolate Rain is kind of an interesting song, but not great.  He's got a few others I like: This Is You; I Play Game; Runnin' From The Concrete...  He also did You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch.
I'd say he needs a little polish, but damn that's some voice.

I know Booka shade form the Wipeout HD soundtrack, glad I came across them, alot of other great artists got known to me from that game too..!
Sadly I don't even own the game, I just know the soundtrack...

Hey still, the listening pleasure is still around..! This particular track is kinda calm and peaceful and slowly progressive, it's how I like most of my electronic music, which is my favorite genre of music..!
