for me it would have to be...... fall out boy. it brought the same old same old to a new level of boring.
Yeah, Fall Out Boy sucks hard. I'm not too fond of Linkin Park, either.
Just as it's hard for me to pick a favorite band, picking the worst one is also really hard because so many suck big floppy donkey dong. Now if we are just talking mainstream bands, here's a few...
Actually, rather than list bands so much, listing musical movements might work better for me. So here goes...
1: Emo (not traditional Emo like Staind - as in emotional music with some kind of heart behind it - but the whining teen angst bands. Seriously, pick one, they all stink.)
2: Grunge (I hated grunge when it was fresh and new, and not just the music but its effect on its fans was obnoxious all throughout high school for me. It's like it suddenly became taboo to bathe or wear clothes that are washed regularly).
3: Deathmetal (Cookie Monster rock, I mean Christ, how is that a skill? I have all the muscial ability of your average turnip and if it's something I could do, then it's not music).
Now I am primarily keeping to Rock here, but I'll just point out for the record I also hate Country, Rap, Hip Hop, Pop music... actually I appear to hate almost all modern music. But I do like some bands, it just seems like most of the bands today in my opinion are weak. Happens in a lot of areas of popular entertainment. See modern movies for instance - most range from POS juvenile comedies to highly pretentious "art" movies, and lame duck action/thriller movies in between.
It's all because there doesn't seem to be an original voice anymore. You just get a lot of cookie-cutter types that play follow the leader and the various entertainment industries keep cranking them out - more Emo bands that all sound the same, more Anger Rock with poor quality singers growling at the world, more Crap-Metal bands continue to spring up, and so forth. Frankly picking the "worst band" is as hard as trying to pick which individual turd is the most disgusting out of the pile.

electro artists sound nothing like other bands.synth work can be a powerful and odd element in any band. generally it has a good effect on the band's sound. but some would argue that it is a rebirth of the music of the 80s. and that would be right to an extent.
I'd do my homework if you think "cookie-monster metal" has no talent, whether you enjoy it is another thing.
just about any rap song :/
just not my thing anyway.
cookie monster metal...i've heard that song before on sirius sattelite radio ...it was...
interesting.
It's a song?
I was just talking about metal with growling vocals.
Clearly, this is the worst band ever:

P.S. Death metal ftw.

Wow, they killed The Final Countdown. And considering how bad the song was originally, that's saying a lot.
well I could go into detail about why I don't like Death Metal or R&B but there is one band that everytime I hear them I get the urge to kill because I feel they are so terrible. Even saying there name makes me annoyed so CHemical Romance is the worst in the world for how they make feel
(http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n200/HA1LILPALAZZO/untitled.gif)
worst band is probably something that hasn't even famous.
oh, i hate RnB and poppy stuff...like hamster dance.
i don't like stuff like hilary duff, maraih carrey or beyonce. I really don't like emo bands like chemical romance or panic at the disco, and by the way how is panic at the disco NOT like that, uh, what's it called?
uh, lost my point...
Actually, I'd rather listen to an entire CD of Fall Out Boy than just one song by My Chemical Romance. They're definitely the worst band ever.
I can listen to pretty much anything, really.
this may sound insane, but there are songs out there that give me literal physical(as well as emotional and mental) pain just to hear it - and these are sound that are so long and drawn out, i mean, just get to the point of what you're singing.
^^ Do you mean long songs, or slow tempo/slow feels?
slow tempo, especially when they take so long to finish a single word.
Ok, I must say I just thought of one band in particular that made me want to change the station more than any other has ever done. Not even Nirvana, who I could never stand, ever provoked me to change the station as quickly as System of a Down. The very sound of the "singer's" voice gives me pain. I just remembered them when I turned the station from my normal spot (classic rock station) to the mixed rock station because they were doing some sort of NASCAR special show for some reason and a few songs in I heard "Aerials" and the pain came back.
I guess it's like with movies anymore - the new stuff is not working for me (and I know "Aerials" isn't new, but compared to "Sympathy for the Devil" it sure is).
yeah, a lot of new stuff is really bad, the only good ones in my opinion are ok go, little birdy and beck(his new stuff, i mean).
i like harmless songs, really. ones that dont attempt to give out a message.

System of a Down is okay, IMO. They have a few good songs, like Snowblind.
My question is, how can you stand the man's excuse for singing? My ears feel like they're going to bleed whenever System comes on the radio. But they're popular, as are many other low quality bands. I guess I just can't understand the reason.

His singing is actually computer altered, thus the name "System of a Down." I don't like them very much, just a few of their songs.
Smashmouth.
I. Hate. Smashmouth.
Any song they create is simple and trite; consisting of no more then strunk-together clichés, forced together with boring melodies.
Just thinking about them is making me irritated. :e_angry:

All the music/Bands I use to love as a youth but NOW have to listen being butchered by my kids on Guitar HERO. :lordilvryannoyed: over and over and over....
I used to love "slow ride"...sob... sob
I can't stand emo and most rap. I have trouble with generalizations of genres becuase every once and awhile there comes something that changes my ind, I used to say I hated all rap until I found nerdcore, and I don't like much country but I can't get "Devil went down to Georgia" out of my head. ever. It's hard to say you hate pop, becuase pop seems to change, never really sounding the same, I hate most current pop though.
But to really answer the question I think it might be MCR, along with pretty much everything on MTV these days (which isn't a lot seeing as they have an hour of music a day).
it's almost impossible to chose one band that sucks the most.
if only each of us were able to destroy our most hated bands. just to erase their memory from the earth.
wishful thinking.

One reason why I dislike Guitar Hero. Haven't played any of them except the second one. Thus, I still love Slow Ride.

opposite for me. i cant stand rap and most emo.
Weeell i grew up on rap so i guess i COULD stand it. but i dont like it.
Emo....well i like the used, are they considered emo? Atreyu?
Look at Atreyus song titles and they sure as hell sound emo. But i love their music
Like I said earlier, if you hate rap, their still nerdcore, but I don't think anyone knows what that means.
I hate Emo becuase listen to songs rich people wrote about how bad life is isn't worth a millisecond of my extremely valuable time.

Lol!
Some bands i listen to lyrics, some bands i listen to the "music" the singing is merely part of the effect of the music.
What Atreyu says is none of my concern, i dont give a shit about how someones standing on their chest :P push em off.
From Autumn to Ashes is still kinda a small band, they're emo, but they're a pretty good band. Not my favorite (actually i havent listened to them since my fiance dumped me) but regardless of if a band sucks, i can admit if they have talent. Besides, although i know what Atreyu sings about, i just dont care. I dont feel pity for anyone i dont know. Hell someone dies on TV with a tire to the face, i'll fuckin laugh. But i can listen to the sweet music of a good band without caring about how tragic their life is :3
Everyones life is tragic, only some people wish to share that with others. Those people are considered emo ^^
That might have been...possibly...the stupidest thing...I have ever heard.
Also I don't like emo becuase it's very mainstream these days. I hate mainstream.
I care about lyrics a lot, becuase I can't help but think that by listening to music where the singer sounds like an ass, then I am supporting asses everywhere. I also like songs I can relate too, and I don't usually relate to songs about how all life is pain, or about how I'm walking down the bulivard of broken dreams.

But what's wrong with mainstream? D:
Mainstream is what most people like, and what most people like now is crap.
Is it crap because people like it, or is it crap because you genuinely don't like the music. You just said you don't like emo BECUAUSE it's mainstream, not because there's something wrong with the actual music. All you said was that you specifically hate mainstream.
the truth is that these days the mainstream is terrible, so much so that we shan't bother listening.
come on! last decades mainstream was briney spears and christina agulera. oh, and backstreet boys.
i love what andrew hansen asked them: " is it true that the name backstreet boys is a sexual inneundo, much like being roggered roughly from behind?"
they didn't answer the question, just so you know.
this is just a guess, as i dont keep tabs on anyone famous, and could give a ratsass about them.
but i dont think the backstreet boys are gay.
Yeah their music fails. but short of me not liking their music personally, i dont know anything about them. But i doubt they're gay, seems more like people wish to bash on them. kinda like how people bash on britney spears, and that one faggot kid who defended her.
Who cares is they're gay or not when their music sucks?
I'll state why I hate emo, it's also the same reason that I can't stand the confessional poets (Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton, etc). It's people whining about how awful life is, but where Plath has some serious reasons for thinking so, these emo bands are generally made-up of teenagers or early 20-somethings that really haven't lived enough to know suffering and hearing the whiny little &%$^s whine about high school (what band has that song, "The bird and the worm" I think it is?) it just makes me want to club someone. It's whining that really gets me, and that is the majority of current emo.
Now Staind I don't mind at all, and that is true emo (as in emotionally charged lyrics, which is fine, nothing wrong with emotions), it's whining little shits that get me. *cough*Coldplay*cough*
As for "pop" music, well, the reason I can't stand it comes down to the fact that so much of it sounds exactly the same - bouncy, "poppy" crap with no intelligence. Music like poetry (and they are of course very closely linked) should have some kind of soul or message (note: this does not apply so much to techno and the like since that is a form that does not rely upon lyrics). But anything Britney, the boy bands, and the more popular hip-hoppers do is pretty much the same ol, same ol. And as far as style goes, it's just not "me."
Thank you for saying what I could not about crappy emo music. I agree 100%. But when you say pop, do you just mean what's currently 'pop'?
just because you dont like a band, doesnt make them bad. It just means you personally think they suck.
My tastes vary, but my friend Paulina for example, write beautiful music. I dont like it, its not my taste. But i can still give her props that its good.
and im pretty sure the backstreet boys never wrote their own lyrics.
Worst bands hmm, spice girls, that one which that twat robbie williams belonged to, and few others
QuoteBut when you say pop, do you just mean what's currently 'pop'?
Ah, well remember when I said "same ol, same ol?" That's pretty much it - when someone does something new, and it gets copied over, and over, and over again, it all runs together and makes one critical mass of musical feces. The general theme of pop music though is that it tends to be very light in style and message. It's usually not offensive lyrically, usually about life issues (love, identity, things teenagers are usually concerned with, and that tend to aim at that target group). Pop changes from generation to generation, but common threads can be seen in what makes "Pop" what it is - accessible to the masses. I can't think of a single pop song that provokes any kind of thought or reflection. They tend to be catchy, and in the modern day they are meant to be seen (music videos, live concerts, choreographed dance, etc). It just makes me ill.
Quoteust because you dont like a band, doesnt make them bad. It just means you personally think they suck.
Yes, in the end it just comes down to what your tastes are, and even though I think My Chemical Romance is the worst thing to crawl out of the neo-emo circuit, they're still laughing all the way to the bank.
Oh, and as for the Spice Girls, I think that any band that has been intentionally engineered is pretty awful - made by the music industry, for the music industry. It's, how should I say this, inorganic. Of course, that's my bias against the music industry, likely the most dishonest and parasitic of all the different facets of the entertainment industry.
when I asked that I meant pop that was around before I was born, not the pop from the Backstreet boys era. Wasn't Micheal Jackson pop? and that's good music.
May of had his faults, but I did like some of Michael jacksons stuff.
i guess you could answer the topic question that it's just personal taste.
but most of us agree that certain music is so bad it makes us cringe.
That is certainly true in most cases, especially nowadays when you get the wannabes who go on to these tallent shows hoping to promote their musical tallents some of which is laughable, I admit can't sing my self.
and suddenly... OP.
so yeah, i notice the general distaste for pop music here. it's not the music really, if you intensify the beats from even the most generic pop song you have some pretty nice shit. a grand example would be faderhead. he is a pop artist, his music is made for clubs. but does it sound like your average teeny bopper bull? hell no. he has pretty good lyrics, though a bit heavy in the party anthems department. "coke for my ass" is the song you should check out.

but yeah, every single genre has something different to offer.
tl;dr?
different strokes for different folks.

What the fuck is this.
I hate Lady Gaga with a passion. Clearly the most overhyped crap on the Radio today.
Rap, R&B, country and most Dutch pop music ain't my cup of tea either.
Haha, I have a strange relationship with Lady Gaga. I don't really like her music much, but if it comes on the radio, I'll end up singing it against my will. I think it's because we have the same range and she's so friggin' contagious, but it makes me sad nonetheless.
I'm going to draw some nerdwrath upon myself and admit that I really kind of hate the whole techno scene.
Bright flashing lights?
Spasmodic dancing?
Nonsensical music?
Guys, techno is disco. Modern day disco.
...Just sayin'.
Maybe I just haven't heard enough to really appreciate it, though.
In conclusion: Boooo, raves.

Agreed, except I do enjoy quite a bit of Rap and R&B. Not really what's played on the radio, though. ;)
I have an entire album of the worst songs ever, have you guys ever head the transformers theme song by Lion? you will probably never hear anything worse.
also, about the death metal, I think people do it because its actually fun to sing, not for the enjoyment of the audience. I might add some of the songs on here to the album though

lol! Only too well. It was kinda kick-ass back in the day though. But by today's musical tastes and standards, it's quite cheesy. That was one 80's 'hairband' that died in the water lonnnnng ago for sure.

Here's how bad it is:
-It's part crunk rap, part electronica, part screamo.
-One band member's job is just to scream really loud, and another band member's postion is "fog machine."
-Seriously, just look at that hair. The music hasn't even started and you already know they're going to suck.
^Yeah, that was pretty awful.
But then again, I have very little respect for anyone who uses Autotune in their songs anyways. Those who use Autotune are basically admitting to the world that they can't sing.
DEATH TO AUTOTUNE!!! :eevil:
As a musician, I find it hard to knock any band who at least makes a attempt to do something.
But, the band Escape The Fate makes me want to puncture my eardrums with a icepick.
The last thing the music scene needs right now is a resurgence of bad hair metal.
To be honest, I really don't think I have heard anything of real value in music in a long time.
Except for Dillinger Four,maybe.....
