I'm sure we all have our favorite manga and stuff, but who would you say are your favorite manga artists, based solely on their art style?
Mine would be:
-Kouta Hirano (Hellsing)
-Katsura Hoshino (D. Gray-man)
-Kubo Tite (Bleach, Zombie Powder)
-Tsutomu Nihei (Blame!)
-CLAMP (Too many to name)
1: Hiroaki Samura, without a doubt it #1 - He is a classically trained artist and manga-ka and his work is undeniably beautiful.
2: Rikdo Koshi - was there any question?
3: Kentaro Miura - Berserk, the artwork appears dated, but it fits the genre very well.
4: Kouta Hirano - Also an unusual art style, but again fitting for the style
My top 5 favorite manga artists are listed in no particular order, and with which series' of theirs I have:
CLAMP; Tsubasa, xxxHolic, Miyuki-chan In Wonderland
Masaki Segawa; Basilisk: The Kouga Ninja Scrolls, The Yagyu Ninja Scrolls: Revenge of the Hori Clan (both written by Futaro Yamada, 1959 and 1964, respectively)
Junji Ito; Uzumaki, Gyo
Rikudo Koshi; Excel Saga, Holy Brownie
Masayuki Taguchi; Battle Royale
E^D
mine are
1)Kouta Hirano
2)Rikudo Koshi
3)Jin Kobayashi (School Rumble I mean Look at my avatar)
4)KiyoHiko Azuma (Azumanga Daioh! fame)
unfortunately thats about it
Osamu Tezuka
Monkey Punch
(Lupin III)
CLAMP
Kiyohiko Azuma
(Azumanga Daioh, Yotsuba&!)
Gosho Aoyama
(Case Closed)
Koji Aihara
(Even a Monkey Can Draw Manga)
Koshi Rikdo
I may like the Excel Saga manga but my favourite manga artist would probably be Kenichi Sonoda. He drew Gunsmith Cats which was the first manga I ever read.
KiyoHiko Azuma. no question. Yotsuba& has the clearest grey tones you will find in any manga. proportions of buildings in the background are perfect, and the foregrounds are equally as good. human propotions are perfect too.
