Anime / Recommendations for great AMVs

AMV Hell 2 was actually one of my favourites of the series - the thing where they kept cutting back to the Evangelion clip with Kaworu was fantastic (I guess you have to have seen/loved Eva though).

Anime / Evangelion to re-made into four films

Of the four upcoming films, two will essentially retell the original story, combining footage from the series with new backgrounds and soundtracks.

Isn't that exactly what they did with 'Evangelion: Death & Rebirth'.

Part of me feels that it will be interesting to see what the new stories they've got to tell are, but I can't help thinking - why mess with perfection?

Anime / The Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

I find that so weird though, the amount of negative comments I've read about the first episode, and even the enthusiastic reviews of the series saying "don't worry too much about the first episode, it gets much better". Both me and the friend I watched it with were in stitches throughout the whole of the first episode, and even before we'd seen any of the rest of the series, we had both agreed "Best Opening Episode EVAR". How can so many people not appreciate the beautifully crafted piss-take of bad home-made movies?

There is really something to be said for a series that has the balls to kick off with an episode that introduces precisely none of the cast members, and only shows even a glimpse of the main character in the closing few seconds. And still manages to start things on a high note :)

Anime / The Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Another convert to Haruhi-ism, here.

Absolutely brilliant. The most engaging, original and fun series I've seen in a long time. Thanks so much for the recommendation. I loved the way they parodied just about every visual anime-style throughout the series, from space-fleet command decks, to the park-bench's hundred-different-camera-angles, to deserted classrooms bathed in red. The fragmented nature of the storyline seemed very weird for a while, but at the end it made complete sense why they did it like that. The random Full Metal Panic references in several episodes cracked me up, as I've recently been watching Fumoffu.

Seriously, everyone who hasn't checked this out yet - you'll be doing yourself a disservice if you don't. The SOS Brigade demands it!

however the girl who did Misaki (sp?) was a better voice for the role then i could have imagined while reading the manga.

Tiffany Grant! She is legendary. She also did Sandora, and the Puchuus. Her performance as Asuka in Evangelion is landmark. She was also Kaorin in Azumanga Daioh, and Ryoko in Nadesico. Way to play totally different roles and be awesome in all of them.

As for other ADV actors, I also really have a thing for the voice of Mandy Clark, who was Cosette in ES, and more memorably, Tomo in Azumanga Daioh.
