General / Re: Cartoons (excluding anime)!
January 29, 2010, 10:14:51 AM
I don't watch cartoons unless I bump into an interesting one. Which none of them are nowadays (except South Park). But I sure did watch alot when I was younger. I consider the 90's the golden age of cartoons in some way.

It had those Superhero cartoons done right. (Hannah Barbera simply sucked at that) Spiderman was ok, X-men was great, Batman was awesome. The Ren & Stimpy show was the real standout in that time. Those made by John K at least. It's their sick, twisted and absurd humour that I loved.
Also loved "The Tick" for being a spot-on superhero spoof.

In the 80's I remember watching Dr. Snuggles, Transformers, Ghostbusters, Visionaries, GI Joe, Dungeons & Dragons, The Archies, Heathcliff, The Smurfs, Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, Galaxy Goof-ups and Yogi's Space Race and many others.

In the end of the 80's there where also some Dutch cartoons which where pretty good. Alfred J kwak & Boes. Turned out later they where animated in Japan. Yet they don't look like Anime. Not in terms of drawing style at least.

Games / Re: Favorite Game Quote and/or Cutscenes?
January 10, 2010, 04:12:33 AM
There was this game called Blazing Dragons on the PS1 that was crammed with good quotes. It was a point and click adventure with Monty Python like humour. A bit odd none of the quotes can be found on the internet though. A few I can remember a bit.

Flicker: I'm looking for Sir George's wife.
Gatekeeper: I'm afraid she is away for awhile. She and Sir George got into a fight. She had some big words, he had a big axe.
Flicker: When will she be back?
Gatekeeper: Well that depends... do you believe in reincarnation?

Gatekeeper: Do you know how hard it is for me to open this door? Stop wasting my time!

Once Flicker managed got into the castle he put on a fake Sir George costume that smells of dung. I refer to him as Fake Sir George.

Fake Sir George talking to the dog of Sir George who is quite scared: Don't worry boy. Today I'm nice!

Fake Sir George: Mervin! Give me status on... you know...the evil plan thingy.

Fake Sir George: Excellent work Mervin! Carry on, toodle pip, good show and all that.
Mervin: Your vote of confidence thrills me to no end Sire.

Wish I had the whole script of the game.  :il_hahaha:

Music / Re: Your Top 5 Bands
January 09, 2010, 09:53:04 AM
1. Porcupine Tree (Progressive Rock band from England. It's frontman Steven Wilson is a workaholic, having a few other bands/ projects he is involved with but this one is his most well-known. The only band I consider myself a "fan" off. Spent more money on these guys than any other band I listen to. But every Euro is worth it.)
2. dEUS (Belgian rock band that isn't well known outside Belgium/ The Netherlands, but are great and have a style I like.)
3. Muse (One of the bands that got me interested in music again, though they are going downhill now.)
4. The Delgados (Scottish Indie pop/ rock band that sadly got disbanded a few years ago.)
5. Air (French electronic/ easy listening music-making duo. They sing in English though with a French accent.)

Music / Re: worst band ever?

I hate Lady Gaga with a passion. Clearly the most overhyped crap on the Radio today.
Rap, R&B, country and most Dutch pop music ain't my cup of tea either.

Favorite of mine was episode 18 "Municipal Force Daitenzin". A good Power-Ranger spoof even if there wasn't real evil to battle.

The Pedro recap was a waste of time. But they probably done it on purpose to piss everyone off.

Manga / Re: Manga you regret buying?
January 03, 2010, 09:48:00 AM
The only manga I regret buying was Qwan, mostly because it seems to be discontinued. Still stuck at 4th volume and that one has been out for a year or so. It's a shame because it had potential to turn into something good.

Don't know if I should continue to collect Bleach. I read it online allready and the plot goes very very slow.
