An Explanation of my Absence:

To anyone still here and to posterity, I would like to explain my sudden disappearance and cancellation of the video.  I simply reached a point where I realized I had taken on too much with school and everything else going on in my life.  But instead of telling you wonderful people here, I ran away.  I convinced myself that everyone would be mad at me for failing since everyone seemed pretty excited about the project to begin with.  I realize now that if I had stayed around and explained myself, no one would have been mad and I'm sure I would have been encouraged to continue the project at my own pace and would probably even have a more complete project.

Anyways, this board was a MAJOR part of my life and I loved every moment on it.  If anyone sees this and happens to have saved a copy of my partial Excel Saga! flash, please send me a PM, since I seem to have lost it.  If you are still interested in what I've been up too, you can find some of my fiction at https://www.fictionpress.com/~noavgc

I've also started to dabble in art.  You can find my work on instagram @NOAVGC_art https://www.instagram.com/noavgc_art/

I hope to hear from you again!  But for now, I'M STILL Eh-Chan!

Eh-chan, out!  :excel_fall:

Bizarre

Such a weird series...it's just weird for the sake of being weird.

I've seen a bunch of new stuff lately, I've recently watched Saikano and have just finished re-watching Irresponsible Captain Tylor.

Currently I'm working my way through K-On!

Quote from: "HerExellencyThePinkBunny"My dad taught himself to play.  What he always tells me is to practice your chords until you can do them in your sleep.  So, get a chord book.

He's trying to teach me.  But I focus more on my violin and piano.

He teaches my friends for free as long as they show progress each week.

What happens if they don't show progress?  Trap door?

I'll get a chord book then.  Thanks!  I really wanted to know where I should get started.

Wow, thanks!  Playing guitar sure is complicated!   :Etoung:

Thanks!

Yes, I will definitely be checking out different things.  I am in fact going to Guitar Center on Friday, so I will try a lot of things.  I never realized there are so many factors in choosing guitars!  I'll definitely choose one based on feel and sound, and also appearance.

As for amps, I will only be getting something small to start off with.  I won't be able to play very loud at all and will probably have to use headphones most of the time anyway.  I have been told the Roland Micro Cube is a good amp, so I will be keeping that in mind.

I'll keep that in mind about proper pick form!  I'm so excited about this!  I can't wait to get started.

Hey all, as I've said in my topic title, I really want to learn to play the guitar and I feel it's time I acted.  After my finals are over, I AM going to buy a guitar and learn how to play.  I'm tired of sitting around watching guitarists and thinking "wow, that's cool, I wish I could do that" and not acting on my desires.

I've begun looking around on different sites for information for a beginner.  I want to get as many opinions as possible, though, before I make any purchases.

So if any of you out there play guitar, I would greatly appreciate it if you could give me some advice.  I am a complete novice, and really have no idea how to play a guitar or what to look for when buying one.  I want to get an electric guitar.  So if you could recommend some good, affordable (around $500 or less, if possible) guitars for a beginner, that would be awesome.  Also, I will need to know what to look for when making a purchase (like what I should listen for when I test the guitar).  Finally, I'll also need to know about other necessary accessories like amps.  I am going to be making my purchase at a physical store.

Once again, any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance!

UPDATE:  I have my eye on this one:

Fender Standard Telecaster (Electron Blue color)

I'm gonna look around some more.  I'll be going to the store on Friday to pick something, so I'll let everyone know what I got either way.

Anime / The Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
April 24, 2007, 08:18:49 PM
Quote from: "R Kenshin"okay. I have a question. I hear this thing all around the web and I have one major question: What is this new fab for one anime. I have been waiting for something great that is fresh and new and I see many people raving for this new series. SO WHY SHOULD I GO OUT AND BUY THE LIMITED BOX NOW?!!?!?!
someone answer my question with a very logical response. Plz do not just spam out. BECAUSE ITS AWESOME or somethign like that even if it is. Why do you guys like this so much?

First things first:

Everyone has different tastes.  So I may not be able to convince you to run out and buy the limited edition, nor do I require you to run out and buy the limited edition.

I will, however, tell you why Haruhi is so special for me:

The story.  The story is absolutely fabulous.  This series is based on an ongoing series of light novels by Tanigawa Nagaru.  Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu is a sci-fi, comedy, school life, supernatural series.  What's most important is it successfully combines all of these elements into one series.  For me, it is a very fresh and exciting story.  The humor is top-par as well.  Here is a basic plot premise from AnimeNewsNetwork.com:

On the first day of high school a beautiful girl named Haruhi Suzumiya introduces herself as having "no interest in ordinary humans". She asks for any aliens, time travelers, sliders or espers to join her. Watching her weird behaviour is Kyon who sits in front of Haruhi and is the only person who talks to her. When Kyon comments about Haruhi's joining every club in school and then quitting he unwittingly gives Haruhi an idea to start her own after school club. Thereafter Kyon and several others find themselves dragged, literally, into the Save our world by Overloading it with fun Suzumiya Haruhi's Brigade (the S.O.S. Brigade for short).

The characters.  Each character has their own unique traits and personalities, and I really can't say that there are any characters I hate.  Kyon's sarcastic wit and observations are hilarious.  He is an excellent narrator.  All of the other characters are superb as well.  I feel I can really relate to Haruhi and find many of my traits in her.  And the voice acting is great.  Each voice seems to really fit the character.

The presentation.  This show was originally aired anachronistically (out-of-order).  It was a wonderful experience.  Each new episode would give you hints as to the overall picture, and it was left up to you to piece things together yourself.  Unfortunately, the regular editions of the DVD releases will be in chronological order.  Broadcast order DVDs are included with the special editions, though.  Either way, it is a great series that can be enjoyed no matter which order you watch it.

The animation.  Kyoto Animation has done a superb job animating this series.  A lot of attention is paid to details, and the episodes were practically reviewed frame-by-frame to be cleaned up for the DVD release.  Facial expressions, body language, everything is well done.

The music.  This may just be a personal preference, but I love the music.  The BG, the OP and ED, and the insert songs were wonderful.  The music choices for some of the biggest scenes in the show are so well chosen I get chills watching them.

So that's what I think of the show and why I think it's great.  You'll have to decide for yourself whether it is the series for you, though.  It is hard to describe in words.  Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu is definitely a show that needs to be seen to understand.
