Holy shit-o, I check this forum every couple of weeks because it's just one of those things that pops into my head, the last time I checked, a couple of weeks ago, there had been no new posts since I'd last checked.

I had forgotten Excel Saga 24 had been advanced to November, it has been out for almost 2 weeks and I haven't ordered it yet.

This is the first time since I began buying the Excel Saga manga that I've been late for one, I'm normally counting the days down to it coming out, but with the massive 6 month gaps we've had in the last several volumes I'm now out of sync.

Needless to say I'm going to go to Amazon now to order it.

Sigh... I miss the forum early years, with the crazy theories and random soliloquies...

The end of Excel in Japan hit this forum very hard, I guess... and we are growing older and lazier  :il_hahaha:

Ahhhhh! I am so pointlessly happy to have read it! (six times)

I wonder if there is any connection between Iwata's behavior in this Volume, and
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
in Volume 21?

ha! ha! If only I had THAT kind of problem. I usually need to wrestle with the local comic book shop to get it to me on time.

I did manage to get my copy last weekend though. Yay!

Yeah mine came pretty quickly after ordering it on Amazon, I just got around to reading some of it a few hours ago, and I rather enjoyed it of course, but at the same time I do feel somewhat like this is ridiculous.

We got up to like volume 20 fairly regularly then there was that sudden year long fucking gap between volumes? >__>

Yeah I love Excel Saga and all, but 4 years later and I hardly know anymore now than I did 4 years ago is taking the piss on how long this has been dragged out for.

I even have the final Excel Saga volumes in Japanese because I was eager to see what happens, but of course I can't read them.

I've always loved Excel Saga, but I think I would've enjoyed it so much more if I'd been able to read it at a sane pace, instead of this absurdly delayed pace... -_-

I read it last night, and I really liked it, as another doze of Excel Saga, but I have to agree that it fell flat when it came to laughs, I was mostly just reading great dialogue the way I always expected it, cryptic or straight to the point for each respective character (you probably know who I'm mainly referring to), and for a lack of better words, I guess it's just starting to feel like it's getting "old", as if it's dragging with the same-o-same for a full volume...
It still had some funny moments, but as a whole, the necessary progression continues as it has for a while, with fewer funny moments than ever this time, when the fun does happen Rikudou does it right though, he can still put a grin to my face when he's trying to..!

I'm pretty certain everything I say from here on is spoiler-free, so don't get scared (like, not literally, I think) to read on..!

Had great moments as well of course, and I can't help to think how great Iwata is, and how any funny moment with him basically saves a volume form being dull to average/good..!

Anyway, more interesting stuff is being hinted and revealed, I'm sure people came up with the same theories in mind as I have (yeah I'll read your spoilers at a later time, when it's NOT super late here  :hdead:)

So anyway, for a series that will end in just 3 more volume, I really think the pace should pick up a bit faster, and I guess it's getting there from what I've seen, just too bad it took another entire volume to bring us there, so hopefully the next volumes will give us some real "action" soon..!

Oh yeah, "action" can be defined and interpreted in many ways, you know what I mean, If it was for me, I'd have Iwata do anything at all, that's action enough to keep me entertained, but for the sake of the other wonderful characters Rikudou created, I really hope they all get their share of "action", because the series deserves to end with them all looking great... Hey, "looking" in this context is yet another word that can be defined and interpreted in many ways, but I'm not gonna drag it now :D

Also, super omega ultra thanks again to Carl for putting my fanart (and the one I created with my friend, Ryan, ohh that was silly) into the book, I'm a little sad there were no other submissions or letters by other people that time, I'm, hoping people still care to write a few things for the last few books that are coming up soon..!

It's not even the pace of the manga is poor, I think if I'd been in Japan and reading the chapters as they were realised every month it'd be perfectly fine, the problem is with having found out Il Palazzo and Kabapu are 20,000 years old and that core element of the story like 4 years ago, it has just taken far far far too much to progress it, he revealed that and then nothing more for so long, only subtle hints at things.

As for the humour as well I agree with you, it's not as funny now as previous volumes were, however I don't fault Rikdo for that, a lot of the humour I found came from the guys working for the Environmental Protection Agency doing their mundane tasks without knowing what was going on.

Now that there is actually a structured story line with robot Excel and Iwata it's more difficult to insert the random humourous situations, so I don't begrudge that, all I'm begrudging is that I wasn't able to finish this manga at the same pace as the Japanese.

At least we still have Elgala.  Elgala will always bring the yucks.

As for the pacing of the NA version, well, it sells like crap (note:  I have no sales figures, this is just inference from the release schedule and online sales evidence).  I wish I could change that.  I think the only reason it's sped up at all is Viz knows it's OVER.

Hi all.

Bought vol 24 just a couple of days ago. Agree with Duomaxwe on the point that not enough progress has been made story-wise, but hoping it's just a bridge to the next volume of awesomeness.

For the most part, I think the forum's quietness is due to the release schedule of the manga. Simply put, if we don't have new anime material, or scanlations coming out every week, the series won't be so fan-able. At least with the way fandoms operate these days, where they're given lots of material to obsess over.

Still, the series is good enough to sustain long-time fans who stick with it. To be fair, you can only have so much patience.

So long!

Also, the manga has finally ended in Japan.  There's nothing new on that front either.  More than the anime, I think that may be why there's no chatter - we're not getting monthly spoilers from Uncreativity.

She could always make some up, I suppose.  :)
