I...hmm...uh, I better bite my tongue. Kinda surprised they're still as popular as they are (or maybe they're not, I don't really keep up with them); thought everybody was going ape shit over Lamb of God, Dragonforce, Killswitch Engage, etc. etc. these days.

Wait. Didn't they make an album with Jay-Z or something?

Yeah, they did one with Jay-Z, but it wasn't any new music.

Yesterday their single came out called What I've done.

Has anybody heard it? I haven't yet.

i just "got " Minutes to Midnight

it's good...
but, its half of the songs are a little non-linkin park~ish. A lot are slow and toned down.

there are a lot of good ones
Given up
Bleed it out
What I've done
Hands held high

It's worth getting if you liked Linkin Park back in the day.

Listened to my friend's copy yesterday.  Gotta say, pretty damned weak on the whole.  I like What I've done but it sounds so much like their previous soulfull creations (namely In the End, my favorite LP song).

But now it sounds like they want to change their format/style and with songs like Bleed it Out, if I remember it correctly (track 2, correct me if I am wrong) it seems like they want to be metal, but they just aren't any good at it.  And as far as "back in the day", it's hard to think that way when this is only their third original album (no Collision Course or live albums included since it wasn't original music), and it went Hybrid Theory > Meteora > Minutes to Midnight.  When I actually considered how little they've done, and how long it took to get these three together, my opinion of LP dropped when I went through Minutes.  Not gonna buy it, might burn What I've Done onto a composite disc of favs (like I sound, sounds a bit like earlier songs of the same type, but is still appreciated), I can leave most, if not all, of the rest.

So RIP LP, I am done with thee, sorry.

A friend bought this latest CD last week-end. This was the first time I was able to listen to the whole thing. I wasn't impressed.

lol! As hilarious as that sounds, it is in fact the truth. In listening to this, it's quickly apparent that they try too hard to be something they aren't; Way too hard to a point where I thought it to be almost laughable at times. Their lyrics are still quite angst-ridden which defines what they've always been. But, to me, it's just getting a bit old now. Maybe part of the problem is that they need to loosen up a little.

Perhaps I'm way off on saying this, but in my opinion, this latest CD marks the beginning of the end for Linkin Park.

i think it may be a bit too early to say that. it is a bit of a change from the the days of hybrid theory and reanimation [which is my favourite Lp album] but not the end by any means. i mean the music is still good, it just has a differant focus. that being politics. the only way they could really kick themselves in the ass is if they go down the road green day did *shudders*.

Music is love
