Haven't read it, but I've got the anime series.  Took me ages to piece it together disc by disc for a reasonable prince.  The full series sells on Ebay for ridiculous amounts.

Have volumes 1-6(?) lying around somewhere and I bought the first 2 DVDs for 10 bucks. It's a good series, I just haven't gotten around finishing it.
