Onhe encouragement of Lod Il this thread is to gather everything that is known about Miwa Rengaya together. She seems to be at the near center of this whole mystery and at least knows something. But are the scant pieces of information we cange about her from her enigmatic appearances? I will then throw open the floor for wild speculation and boob jokes.
If thi goes well I might do a Excel Excel what do we know thread.
Yes, let's dissect Miwa.... peel away those enigmatic layers (that sounds somewhat gross!!) and have a collaborative effort on what makes her tick....

Well...we know she can eat the friendship special all by herself. That might be something.

...has a history with Kabapu.
...is overly affectionate with her son, and just about everyone she meets, come to think of it.
...is a genius bio-engineer, daughter of same.
...she's older then she looks.

If I remember correctly she also knows something about who Excel really is even though there hasn't been shown any prior interaction between them.

Indeed. To the point where it could be considered disturbing. Purposely shoving her breasts into his face.. I attribute this to making him extra compliant to her wishes.

Well that last volume didn't clarify anything.
For a moment, i actually thought there was something to expect from Shiouji's private room, since Miwa pretty much wanted them to look in there...
Guess not though, but it still made an appealing impression on me, i certainly laughed even if i expected something difernt haha :D
Despite the fact that her specialty is supposed to be bioengineering, we never see her doing anything like it, not even once; instead, she makes Shiouji do her work and spends her spare time casually breaking into his and Kabapu's computer systems.
I still think there is something to her being able to eat the Friendship Special all by herself, but I may just be reading to much into it.

according to both Shiouji and Kabapu she has had a change of personality
The crux of Excel Saga has to be the ability to have 2 personalities sharing 1 body. How exactly, we dont know, yet.

First time poster, long time reader of Excel Saga. Man, the things you miss until you read the things the umpteenth time.
I have't read the latest one yet, but I'm awaiting it's arrival with anticipation.
Now, as to my thoughts on Miwa:
1:maybe she's an android to replace the real Miwa, killed, sacrficed, or otherwise gone. Other than the friendship special incident, the seemingly unpredictable nature of the android personalities (Shioji mentioned that Ishiki's suffered due to the sensor load), and the thought that it'd be a great twist, I have no info to support this.
2:Maybe she actually IS Tenmangu. (sick but not entirely out of the realm of possibility.)
Things I DO know:
1:She and Tenmangu are convinced of Kabapu's story about the "Gate" etc... Meaning they have reason to believe it's true.
2:She has access to the same place that Excel and Hyatt stumbled into while wandering around the sewers looking for the entrance to the base.
Looking forward to continuing this.
As a side note, I'm thinking that Tenmangu is working for Il Palazzo. Somewhere is a frame that instantly lit that up in my mind. I'll try to find it.

About her being an android... I was thinking... Since she doesn't seem to become much older at all (that was hinted at one point too)
It's rather interesting, you can make up many more or less valid theories about Miwa, she's a really mysterious character for now ...
I will say, I don't think she's working for Il Palazzo.
I think Il Palazzo is working for her.
She seems smart enough that she could be a third opponent.

Interesting theory. So much so that I wonder if this explains what I mentioned earlier about the overly affectionate nature she has with her son, Shiouji. I mean, calling him "hubby" in vol. 17 was just too much over the top for me. :il_hahaha: If Miwa is in fact an android, that might make sense as a malfunction with her recognition ability of people - Does Miwa understand that Shiouji
is supposed to be her son. Or is she really just
that eccentric?
The Friendship Special incident further signifies that something is way off from normal about her.

I always figureed she was the real opponent behind Kabapu. Or at least, the one with the brains.
NOticed something interesting in 18, brought to my attention by the Oubliette. Miwa's facial traits when she doesn't have her glasses and head-gear on. The nose, the curve of the ears and chin, and especially the mole.
Maybe it's simply artist-style playing into it(but in Excel Saga, you can never be sure), but I think maybe Miwa and Momochi might be sisters? Maybe Momochi is the progeny of a late-life pregnancy of Miwa's parents.
Anyway....seemed to pop into my head like possibilities will.
She's also Momochi's mole mate.
Come on, someone else had to notice it too.
Actually, I have a pet theory that posits that Miwa is Tenmangu in a modified android body (possibly. This theory assumes that something traumatic happened to Old-Miwa's body and/or consciousness, like most other theories out there) while Momochi is Original Miwa, erased of her memories (purposefully or by said trauma). Even without the lost-memories trope, she could be serving as a double agent for Kabapu, enabling Now-Miwa plays both sides of the (hopefully) upcoming epic Il Pala-Kabapu battle for the ruins.
Hmm. Unlikely, yes. But it would explain some of her reticence to have contact with Shioji, because of a potent mixture of latent guilt (Poor Shioji got stuck with Miwa as a mommy), general weirdness, and nostalgia.
hey if someone could supply pictures of both Miwa and Momotchi?
Miwa's illness after Tenmangu's disappearance may have been both real and an excuse to stay away from Kabapu while Miwa's original and implanted mind/personality/memory (whatever) integrated and developed some kind of functional accommodation. If, as I believe, it was that of the former Solarian Ruler (her 'ghost'), she is probably trying to control both Kabapu and Il Palazzo (Tenmangu, I believe). Poor Gojyou! The Solarian part of Miwa's merged self probably wasn't prepared for motherhood, big boobs, and being married to a stranger - she tried, though!

Well, turns out Tenmangu is actually Il Palazzo's second personality. And he took Miwa with him to the ruin, and left Sanshiki (the fake Miwa, the perfected Ropponmatsu) behind to take good care of Shiouji. Given that Sanshiki is a giant pervert, it's likely that she had a replica of Fio's core implanted inside her, just like Excel and Ropponmatsu, and that ended up influencing her personality somehow. I really doubt that's actually Fio who's in control of her, but who knows?
As for what the real Miwa did after Tenmangu's disappearance... I think she helped Piola / Tenmangu make Excel, Hyatt, and Elgala.
This sounds incredibly far-fetched, I know. It's never directly stated, let alone hinted at, but given that in Vol. 16 it's mentioned Miwa is an expert bioengineer (by contrast, Sanshiki took on computing or machinery or something like that, something she's more familiar with) and we know for certain those girls were artificially made, it's not that hard to make the connection.
Thematically, I think it fits.
