Title: Favorite Game Quote and/or Cutscenes?
Post by: Mad Hatteress on July 21, 2009, 07:26:04 PM
Just wondering if you guys have any game quotes or cutscenes you like and want to share. I'm fond of the funny ones so here's some that I can remember:

Thousand Arms
Boy: "Have you seen my dad's resurrection? My mom said she'll leave him if he can't find it."

Space Channel 5 (you'd have to hear him say it to find it funny)
Purge: "Dance yourselves to Hell! See if I care!"

Persona 2
(can't remember who said it): "Let's postive thinking!"

Phoenix Wright: Justice For All (after hearing Larry's testimony)
Franziska: "Are...?"
Edgeworth: "You...?"
Judge: "High! That girl is up so high!"

As for cutscene's, nothing beats this one from Devil Summoner where Victor gets to have his way with Rasputin XD : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9afG3X55p6I

Meet Greg the Grim Reaper from Conker's Bad Fur Day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9afG3X55p6I

I wish I could find a clip of Bandiger from Thousand Arms to share. He's this incredibly flamboyant man that wears a little man-thong and has the gayest voice I've ever heard. He attacks you with an umbrella and shouts "You spin me round and round, baby!" while doing it.

Best quote from any game. Ever. "YOU DAMNED, KIRYU!" from Yakuza 3 comes close, though.

Basically anything your units say in StarCraft is quote-worthy. Tokyo Beat Down has the best dialogue ever. The horrible fucking puns from Persona 3 are also hilarious.

^XD I'm kind of an idiot for not looking it up or remembering; it was Maya, the MC herself! OMG, it's so nice to find another Persona fan on here! Hmm... I don't remember the puns in P3 because I haven't played it so long but Teddy in P4 really annoyed me with his.

She also said it in Innocent Sin, where she wasn't the MC, iirc. P2 Innocent Sin is basically the best JRPG of all time.

Here's an example of the great puns from P3:
"So I heard about this new steakhouse in town... why don't we go MEAT up there?"
"The train almost crashed, but they were able to stop it in time... what a lucky BRAKE."
I don't remember the rest, but there were at least 10 more. I gotta' play it again sometime.

I haven't played Persona 4 yet. I've been meaning to, though.

Oh, and how could I forget to mention God Hand, MadWorld, and House of the Dead: Overkill for best cutscenes/quotes!? Those games are absolutely hilarious!

And let's not forget House of the Dead 2 or Resident Evil...
"G's... blood... stains!"
"Suffer like G did!"
"Dogs of the AMS... time they made a move."

"You were almost a Jill sandwich!"
"Hope this is not Chris' blood!"
"I found a weapon... it's very powerful, especially against living things!"

MADWORLD!!!!!!! Ohmygosh how could I forget about the greatness of the commentary!

I found a clip of some of it. For those not familiar with Madworld, a quick warning that there's offensive content: http://www.gametrailers.com/user-movie/madworld-funny-commentary/310788

Suikoden 2:
"It took hundreds to kill me, but I killed humans by the thousands!  Look at me! I am sublime! I am the true face of evil!"  -Luca Blight

I'll add more later.

"Ok Snake, time to change the disk.  I know, I know, it's a pain, but you have to do it in order to go on.  Now switch to the disk 2, do you see the disk labeled 2?" "No..." "Huh...? OH YEAH! Were on Playstation 3 it's a blu-ray dual layered to boot, no need to switch.!" "Dammit Otacon get a grip!"

Sonic The Hedgehog (2006)

"tHat tORnaDOES caRRYING a CAr!"

"It's no use!!!!"

Nearly every quote from the horrible dub of Megaman 8 is a classic, but then there's the even more classic:

"When we find da meteah, we'll find Doctah Wiwey!"

Just remembered one of my favorites from Madworld (sorry if it's a little off):

Kreese: Stay off the drugs, kids!
Howard: Drink booze like I do!

I just remembered that the Blood games and SiN have amazing one-liners. Theirs were actually original, too, unlike the ones in Duke Nukem 3D. ;) And who can forget such excellent head-slappers from F.E.A.R. 2 as "I don't give a shit if it's Godzilla, just kill the bastard!" and "he's behind the fucking barn!"?

One of the best quotes from the game. I also love their conversation about "washing down scotch with a little scotch" and the whole "awesome rack on her, though!" bit. An honorable mention goes to the ending credits, of course. :il_hahaha:

There's also my favorite line from The World Ends With You:

"I'll be off listening to bands you kids have never even HEARD of! And then, when they go major, I'll be there to complain about how they sold out!"

One of the best cut scenes I have seen in my own opinion is the intro for guardian heroes on the sega saturn, pity the rest of the game was a bit easy with crappy screen art endings

My favourite would have to be either the opening to Another Century's Episode 3:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIkitpXurVE

Filled with famous robot goodness..... :il_hahaha:

Or the opening cinematic of Final Fantasy X. I was only 14 when I first played it, and it was the first game I got for the PS2, so the visuals and creativity of it blew me away. Still gotta be my favourite RPG ever.

I agree, Final Fantasy X has a special place for me because of the same reason-- it was my first. You never forget your first, ya know.

Disgaea's opening was pretty amazing, too. I love Etna. (The best part doesn't start until about :45 in, but I'm pretty sure most people here have played it, so it's redundant anyways!) :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82OEhCFqtbA

Psychonauts has a ton of amazing quotes too!
These are two of my favorites:
(4:08-5:27)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9mVJikuK9Q&feature=PlayList&p=6599E49C2DC6042F&index=47
Later: The squirrels? They-They lied. Then they left...

Shadow of Destiny may not be the greatest game, but the variety of ways your character dies is pretty epic. I couldn't find any videos of it, but one involves a Chinese vase. The thing just falls on your head and you keel over.
The main character is also a thick-headed idiot... as witnessed by the scene below.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKD0c5WmG2c&feature=related
"You mean you don't like this pentagram symbol-thing?"  :il_hahaha:

Glad you enjoyed it too Pamplemousse, despite the main character.

I forgot to mention Godhand, in which every cutscene is spectacularly funny. Though my favourite is this...

If you have a PS2 you should try and find Blood Will Tell. Just the opening alone is sweet and has a great story to accompany it. The game play gets a tad repetitive, and voice acting could be a little better, but it's really terrific over all.

OMG! I've actually never met another person who's played! You're awesome, Foggle! I started over since I haven't played it since 2006. I was almost done... I wonder why I didn't finish it. Oh well.

^ I'm kind of getting sick of Hyakkimaru saying "I can save the game here" every time I step onto that glowing space under the umbrella, though. I just want to shout "I know that, dammit!".

Oh well. It's better than "Do you know where the sailors hang out? Have you seen any sailors?".

There was this game called Blazing Dragons on the PS1 that was crammed with good quotes. It was a point and click adventure with Monty Python like humour. A bit odd none of the quotes can be found on the internet though. A few I can remember a bit.

Flicker: I'm looking for Sir George's wife.
Gatekeeper: I'm afraid she is away for awhile. She and Sir George got into a fight. She had some big words, he had a big axe.
Flicker: When will she be back?
Gatekeeper: Well that depends... do you believe in reincarnation?

Gatekeeper: Do you know how hard it is for me to open this door? Stop wasting my time!

Once Flicker managed got into the castle he put on a fake Sir George costume that smells of dung. I refer to him as Fake Sir George.

Fake Sir George talking to the dog of Sir George who is quite scared: Don't worry boy. Today I'm nice!

Fake Sir George: Mervin! Give me status on... you know...the evil plan thingy.

Fake Sir George: Excellent work Mervin! Carry on, toodle pip, good show and all that.
Mervin: Your vote of confidence thrills me to no end Sire.

Wish I had the whole script of the game.  :il_hahaha:

Mass Effect 2
Sergeant-This, recruits, is a twenty kilo farris slug. Feel the weight. Every five seconds the main gun of an everest class dreadnought accelerates one to one point three percent of light speed. It impacts with the force of a thirty-eight kiloton bomb. That is three times the yield of the city-buster dropped on Hiroshima back on Earth. That means that Sir Issac Newton is the deadliest Son-Of-a-Bitch in space.

Halo 2
Johnson-Are you hit marine?
Marine-No sir.
Johnson-Then listen up. When I joined the corp we didn't have any fancy-smancy tanks. We had sticks, two sticks and a rock to a whole platoon, and we to share the rock. Buck-up boy your one very lucky marine.

Mafia 2
Henry: Take me to El Greco!
Joe: The fuckin' painter?
Henry: No; the fuckin' doctor, you idiot!

That's just from the demo. I can already tell that this game is going to be loaded with awesome dialogue.
