I think the biggest question I have about that review is:
HOW'D HE GET A FOCKIN' COPY IN EARLY(ish) MARCH? I highly doubt Viz gives out pre-release review copies of Excel Saga, considering the only reviews I've ever seen for the manga aside from this one and IGN's take on #17 are of the first few volumes.

I've got my review copy for Mania.com.  *nah nah nah nah nah nah*  It's so shiny.... *rubs cheek against book*  Smells soooo gooood.....

Yeah, I was surprised as hell that Viz sent out review copies for #22.  I don't know when Mania/AoD last received one, but it was way before I jumped on board the review staff.

Whoa, review copies and everything! Viz is really expanding their horizons for this series!

Hope you enjoy it!

Yeah, no kiddin. Hey Carl, did you see my article on Excel Saga on Mispeled.net, linked here before? Throw a dude a bone, man, come on  :im_nabeshin:. I'm way better than that ass-clown with his b.s. review.

Got mine today! :elhail: I seriously recommend you guys start pre-ordering from RightStuf. No matter what it is I pre-order from them, I always end up getting it 1-3 weeks before the release date.

Won't have a chance to read it until Friday, but here are a few things I noticed:
It's one of the longer volumes. Maybe the second longest after #18.
The color pages are absent. Not that we expected them to be in there.
El's hair is blue on the back cover, as well.
The light blue color scheme might be the nicest looking we've seen yet on the English covers.

Wow. Great volume! Top 5 material, easily. Fucking doozy of a cliffhanger ending made me rage, though, since (if Amazon.ca is correct) we won't know what happens until next year.
 :hdead:

This is the first book since the single-digits where Excel is, without a doubt, the central character. There are some really quotable lines in this one, especially from Watanabe. It also features perhaps the best pacing the series has ever seen; something important and exciting happens in every chapter. The art is greatly improved from #21, as well.

It's hard to explain, but reading this one felt almost... intoxicating, maybe? I have no idea why, but this particular volume made me feel somewhat reflective after and while I read it. Sounds weird, I know.
I'll elaborate more once everyone has a chance to read it... :elhail:

Just a few more days!  It's been so long since 21, I want it NOW!
Perhaps I'll take Foggle's suggestion, and pre-order 23 from RightStuf...

GODDAMMIT. I should've pre-ordered when I had the chance. And since my refund AND my grant check are not coming until the end of this month, I'm going to have to wait... :elcry:

amazon.com preordered.  Expected time of arrival for volume 22 for me is the 13th. Looking forward to it. Seems April is unofficially Excel Saga Month. :elhail:

So, hey, I got my volume 22. There's this kind of huge sense that I'm getting of the plot leisurely barreling towards some kind of big climatic thing.

Hmm, I always have trouble figuring out the page numbers in these things but near the end of the volume, there's a full-page panel that's pretty much hilarious in or out of context.

I may end up in the same boat as you. You won't be the only one with a late copy.
The best things come to those who wait, however. :e_wink:
