The least-anticipated revival since Fuller House is finally here! Against all odds, the Excel
Saga Forum is back with its original domain name intact. Read the announcement thread for
more details, or check out the Resources section for help finding copies of both the manga and
anime. And don't forget to join our newfangled Discord if that's the kind of thing you're into!

General / Re: MMORPGs - Maple Story especially
December 03, 2007, 05:35:54 PM
Hmm, there's actually a few free MMOs out there which are pretty good, though I probably wouldn't call them RPGs. Space Cowboy, for example is an MMORPG crossed with a combat flight game. It's actually pretty fun when you get used to it ^^

P.S. Couldn't help but notice this was in General and not Games. Was this intended? ^^;
P.P.S. ElricJC, a little off topic but is that a Magic The Gathering themed signature image I see? ^^

Hey Micki, have you ever tried Wiremod for Gmod 10?

Takes some learning to get used to (as a matter of fact I'm still trying to get my head around it) but as far as I've seen it's a huge improvement to GMod 10 (especially if you have the Phoenix Model Pack) and lets you create some of the most awesome gadgets you could think of (Automated turrets being one.)

And yes, I'm totally looking forward to the orange box update, especially after hearing that lamps actually cast shadows now :D If you know how to use the finger posing tool you could make awesome shadow puppets.

My top three favourite characters have got to be:

1. Menchi (Who couldn't love Menchi? She's too cute!)
2. Excel (Dying 5 times in the first episode of the anime is a feat yet to be broken by any other anime character)
3. Misaki Matsuya (Definitely a favourite after seeing her slap Iwata into the vending machine on episode 6 of the anime.)

Thanks for the welcome, Randamonian ^^

My other favourite episodes in particular would have to be "Melody Of The Underground Passage" (especially the part with the Department of City Security beating the hell out of the Puchuu) and "Big City Part II" (With Hyatt scaring her captors by dying in their car, and Menchi being scared of a Puchuu this is another of my favourite episodes by far.)

At the moment I'm reading "Cold Granite" (for the second time :D) by self-proclaimed "bearded crime write-ist", Stuart Macbride. Very gritty crime novel set in the city of Aberdeen, and yet also pretty funny in parts. Macbride has a good grasp of "gallows humour", it would seem :)

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved 26 (I'm pretty much a politically incorrect person myself). Actually, I was just trying to think of an episode I disliked, and failed horribly. :hdead:

*vain attempt to steer the course back on topic*

My favourite episode by far would have to be Episode 6, as that was the first episode of Excel Saga I had ever watched. I had just flicked onto it and caught the part where Misaki slapped Iwata so hard he flew into the drinks vending machine. I think it was that which made me instantly love the series.

Least favourite episode... Hmmm, I really can't think of any episodes that weren't my favourite, though episode 26 did, as its textual title suggests, go a bit too far.  :lordilvryannoyed:

Portal. Possibly THE most awesome game in existence. Still, Black Mesa owns Aperture Science.

That was a joke. HAHA. Fat chance.

(Couldn't resist, I love that song.)

Games / Garry's Mod

Garry's Mod is a Half Life 2 physics sandbox mod. In short, you can do anything you like. Want to try building a catapult? Go right ahead and make one. Not good at building? Spawn ragdolls of your favourite HL2 characters and place them in silly poses. Still no fun? You could always try spawning a few hundred zombies and battling it out in a duel to the death! At the moment it's a retail game, but it doesn't cost too much ^^

So, anyone messed around with this? I'm on my laptop at the moment, awaiting my new desktop to arrive but when I get back into the groove I'm probably going to try making a few defensive contraptions (To protect potential emergency food supplies from the impending threats of zombies, headcrabs, ravenous Excels etc. ;))

Feel free to post screenshots of any contraptions you might have made, or just discuss recent developments of the mod. (For one, I'm totally looking forward to the full release of Orange Box content to play around with in GMod.)

Favourite game: Garry's Mod, by a long shot.
Favourite Actor: Peter Sellers.
Favourite writer: Stuart MacBride.
